ImageQuarry vs Meta AI: Muse Image in your apps or a dedicated image workspace

Meta AI is Meta's assistant, and since July 2026 it makes and edits pictures with Muse Image, the first image model from Meta Superintelligence Labs. You can add, remove or change part of an image with a description or a sketch, restyle in one click, combine photos and animate a result, across meta.ai, the Meta AI app, Instagram and WhatsApp. Meta says Muse Image is free for everyday creation. ImageQuarry is a paid workspace made for image work that runs longer: every change is a kept version, branches start from any earlier one, and projects hold the history. Choose Meta AI for quick creative play where you already chat; choose ImageQuarry for work you will revise and return to.

We make ImageQuarry. We compared it with Meta AI using Meta AI's own public pages, checked October 20, 2026, and say where Meta AI does more.

ImageQuarry and Meta AI: the differences that matter

One model or a choice of four

Meta AI generates and edits with Muse Image, which Meta introduced in July 2026. ImageQuarry lets you pick one of four models for a request: Nano Banana 2.1, the default, Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image 2.5 Flare or GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst.

Sketching on the photo

Meta's July 2026 post says markup lets you circle, sketch or annotate edits right on top of a photo, and its help center adds Restyle and a Swap option to place a person into a picture. ImageQuarry takes the change as a written request on a selected version.

Free everyday use

Meta says using Meta AI with Muse Image is free for everyday creation, with more room in Meta One plans at $7.99 or $19.99 a month, as of October 2026, though its help center says Meta One is still in limited testing. ImageQuarry plans are paid only: Starter at $9 per month with 100 image credits a month, or Pro at $29 per month with 300 image credits a month.

Versions, branches and projects

Meta's help pages describe a Creations section for generated pictures and do not document projects, folders, version history or branching. In ImageQuarry, every change is a new version kept next to its prompt and references, any earlier version can start a branch, and projects and a library hold the work.

Reach across apps and into video

Muse Image also powers Instagram Stories effects and WhatsApp chat generation in some countries, and a Meta AI picture can be animated with Animate. For people who make pictures to share straight into Meta's apps, that reach is a real reason to use it.

Terms for what you make

Meta's AI terms say you keep rights in your prompts but do not state who owns outputs or address commercial use. ImageQuarry has not published rights terms yet. Check both before you rely on them.

About each product

ImageQuarry

ImageQuarry is a conversational AI image workspace. You describe an image or upload one, then ask for specific changes in words, such as new lighting, a different background or an added object. Each change makes a new version and earlier versions are kept, so you can make variations, branch from any version, add reference images and organize the work in projects and a library. You can choose between four image models: Nano Banana 2.1 (the default), Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image 2.5 Flare and GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst. Plans: Starter at $9 per month with 100 image credits a month, and Pro at $29 per month with 300 image credits a month, with optional metered overage that is off unless you turn it on. Every plan is paid. ImageQuarry has not published output specifications or rights terms yet, and it is not a headshot or background removal tool.

Meta AI

Meta AI is Meta's assistant, and its image generator page invites you to describe what you want to see. Since July 7, 2026, it uses Muse Image, the first image model from Meta Superintelligence Labs. It can create pictures from a prompt, edit an upload by description or sketch, restyle with a library of styles, swap a person into a scene, blend several photos and animate a result. Meta says it is free for everyday creation, with Meta One Core at $7.99 and Premium at $19.99 a month for more, as of October 2026. It runs on meta.ai, the Meta AI app and desktop, and powers effects on Instagram and WhatsApp. Developers can use Muse Image through the Meta Model API at $0.01 per image.
