Hotpot.ai alternatives for generating and editing images by description
Hotpot.ai is a credit-based web suite from Panabee, LLC with a text to image generator, an AI Image Editor that works from a written instruction, headshots, upscaling and video. People look elsewhere because its editor page warns that "AI can alter details beyond the change you request", commercial use needs credits or a purchased license, and monthly subscriptions require at least two terms. ChatGPT Images fits editing one selected area in conversation, getimg.ai fits typed edits with commercial rights on every paid plan, Deep-Image.ai fits pay as you go credits with edit history, and Gemini fits a phone. ImageQuarry fits people who want each change kept as a version they can go back to.
We make ImageQuarry, one of the alternatives below. Hotpot.ai and each alternative were compared on editing in words, control over what changes, usage terms, how you pay, platforms, using each vendor's public pages, checked October 20, 2026.

What is Hotpot.ai?
Hotpot.ai's title reads "AI Image Generator, AI Videos and AI Headshots", and its site is organized into AI Image, AI Videos, AI Headshot and AI Editing. The generator turns text prompts into images in named styles such as Photo General 1 and Watercolor 1, with an optional style reference. The AI Image Editor "lets you edit an existing image by describing what you want to change": you upload a photo or artwork, write an instruction like "Replace the gray sky with a warm sunset", and refine it as you go. Upscaling, colorizing, restoration and background removal sit alongside.
Hotpot.ai, the image tool from Panabee, LLC, has nothing to do with hot pot cooking, which most "hotpot" searches are about.
Hotpot.ai pricing
Credit costs vary by tool and settings. The same credit tiers can be bought as a monthly subscription ("Save 17%", at least two terms) or a yearly one ("Save 25%", cancellable after one term), but those amounts were not in the page text. Team and volume discounts are by request. Prices as of October 2026, from hotpot.ai. Check the vendor for current pricing.

What Hotpot.ai does well
Edit by writing an instruction
The AI Image Editor changes a background, adds or removes objects, adjusts colors or reinterprets an image in another style from a written instruction, on photos, artwork or AI images.
Pay once, no subscription needed
Credit packs run from $12 for 1,000 credits to $240 for 20,000, bought once.
Many tools under one account
Besides generation and editing, Hotpot lists style transfer, a photo upscaler, colorizer and restorer, background removal, an AI eraser, AI headshots and video.
A license comes with paid content
Hotpot says "Content produced with credits includes a license" for commercial use.
API options
A cloud API serves most budgets, and a self-hosted API is available at enterprise pricing.
Where Hotpot.ai falls short
Edits can spill beyond the request
The editor page itself cautions that "AI can alter details beyond the change you request."
Commercial use has conditions
Commercial use needs credits or a purchased license, so things you made for free must be licensed item by item, and Hotpot says its licenses "do not constitute copyright or any form of intellectual property."
Subscriptions with a minimum term
"Monthly subscriptions require at least two terms", and the monthly and yearly amounts were not in the page text.
Results may not be unique
Hotpot notes that other people "may use similar or even identical prompts, producing similar or identical results", and it may add invisible watermarks.
No app and no named model
No native app is listed (login help suggests a mobile browser), and the generator page names styles but no underlying model.
Why people look for a Hotpot.ai alternative
- You need edits that stay focused on what you asked for, and Hotpot warns that its AI can alter details beyond the requested change.
- You want commercial use covered by your plan, rather than buying credits or licensing each free creation.
- You want a monthly plan you can stop after one month, and Hotpot's monthly subscriptions need at least two terms.
- You want a phone app, and Hotpot lists none.
The 5 Hotpot.ai alternatives
Ordered by how many of the reasons above each one answers, starting with control over edits: tools that let you limit or undo a typed change and publish their plan prices first, then pay as you go credits with edit history, and last a no-cost assistant with phone apps but a visible watermark.
1. ChatGPT Images
Best for: Editing one part of an image in conversation, on web or phone
How it differs from Hotpot.ai: ChatGPT lets you select a specific area of an image and describe the change for that area only, which addresses Hotpot's warning about edits spreading. Canvas view shows every image from the chat, Comment adds precise feedback to one or more of them, and it runs on the web, iOS and Android with plans from $8 a month.
Price: Go $8 a month; Free plan has limited image creation (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: How many images you can make depends on your plan and workspace settings, and the image API is sold separately.
2. getimg.ai
Best for: Paid creators who want typed edits and commercial rights on every plan
How it differs from Hotpot.ai: getimg.ai's AI Image Editor says it "finds it, isolates it, and edits it" when you describe the change, with inpainting that rewrites part of an image without touching the rest. Every paid plan lists commercial rights, and its monthly prices are published, from $15.
Price: Entry $15 a month, monthly billing (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: No free plan appears on the pricing page, plan credits do not roll over, and its commercial use follows the CreativeML Open RAIL-M license.
3. ImageQuarry
Best for: People who want every typed edit kept, so an unwanted change is never final
How it differs from Hotpot.ai: Hotpot's editor applies an instruction and warns that more may change than you asked. ImageQuarry lets your request name what to keep as well as what to change, for example keeping the face, hands, crop and background, and each result is a new version beside the earlier ones. If a version drifts, you select an earlier one and branch from there.
Price: Starter $9 per month; Pro $29 per month (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: Every plan is paid, and ImageQuarry has published no Terms or rights policy yet, so check usage terms before client work.
4. Deep-Image.ai
Best for: Pay as you go buyers who also need upscaling and restoration
How it differs from Hotpot.ai: Deep-Image.ai's Prompt Based Edit works like a chat with full history, so you can jump back to any iteration and branch off. Like Hotpot it sells credits without a subscription, and its pay as you go credits have no expiration date; it also upscales up to 300 megapixels.
Price: Credits as low as $0.04 each (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: Named plan prices load by script and could not be read, and cancelling a membership loses remaining credits.
5. Gemini
Best for: Trying typed edits at no cost in an Android or iPhone app
How it differs from Hotpot.ai: Gemini edits an uploaded image when you tell it to change the background, replace an object or add an element. Its $0 plan includes image generation and editing, it accepts reference photos for texture, color or style, and it has Android and iPhone apps, which Hotpot does not list.
Price: $0 plan; Google AI Pro $19.99 a month (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: Images carry a visible watermark and an invisible SynthID mark, and downloads without a paid plan are 1K.
Who should stay with Hotpot.ai
- You prefer buying credit packs once, from $12, over any subscription.
- You use several of Hotpot's tools (headshots, colorizing, restoration, style transfer) and want them under one balance.
- You run Hotpot through its cloud API or need the self-hosted API at enterprise pricing.
- Your edits are broad restyles, where changes beyond the exact request do not matter.
How to move your images off Hotpot.ai
- Open your Hotpot files and download every creation you want to keep.
- License any free creations you plan to use commercially before leaving, through the commercial option at download.
- If you are on a monthly subscription, check how many terms you have served, since the minimum is two.
- Copy the instructions that worked in the AI Image Editor and reuse them as requests in the new tool, adding what should stay unchanged.
Does not carry over: Unused Hotpot credits and the licenses tied to your Hotpot account stay with Hotpot.
Hotpot.ai alternatives: questions
Is there a free alternative to Hotpot.ai?
Gemini's $0 plan includes image generation and editing, and ChatGPT's Free plan includes limited image creation. Hotpot itself lets you create some things for free, but commercial use needs credits or a license. Every ImageQuarry plan is paid.
Hotpot.ai or VanceAI for upscaling?
VanceAI is enhancement first, with upscaling, denoising, restoration and colorizing, and sells monthly plans from $20 or pay as you go credits valid for a year. Hotpot puts a photo upscaler, colorizer and restorer next to its generator and editor, sold as credit packs from $12.
Can I use Hotpot.ai images commercially?
Yes, if you buy credits or a license: content produced with credits includes a license, and free creations can be licensed one at a time. Hotpot adds that its licenses are not copyright or intellectual property.
Which alternative keeps an edit from changing the rest of the image?
ChatGPT lets you select an area and describe the change for that area, and getimg.ai's inpainting rewrites one part of an image. In ImageQuarry you say what to keep in your request and review the new version, with every earlier version kept.
How does ImageQuarry compare with Hotpot.ai?
