BetterPic alternatives for AI headshots and portrait edits

BetterPic (betterpic.io) is a web service that makes 4K professional AI headshots from 8 to 12 uploaded selfies, sold as one-time packs for one person or for teams, with an AI Studio of preset edit tools and paid human edits. People look elsewhere because refunds end once training starts, styles and AI Edits are capped per pack, and extra edits cost $8 each. HeadshotPro fits the lowest pack price, Aragon AI fits bigger packs and phone apps, Photo AI fits an ongoing model of you, and Facetune and ChatGPT Images fit editing your own photo. ImageQuarry is a general image workspace and does not make headshot packs.

We make ImageQuarry, one of the alternatives below. BetterPic and each alternative were compared on headshot packs, refunds and redos, edits after delivery, where it runs and price, using each vendor's public pages, checked October 20, 2026.

What is BetterPic?

BetterPic sells "Studio Quality AI professional headshots, without a photographer or a photoshoot", in 4K, for individuals and remote teams, ready in under 60 minutes. You upload 8 to 12 varied photos, it trains on 8 of them, and you get a pack of 20, 60 or 120 headshots. Its AI Studio then lets you "adapt backgrounds and colors, change your fit, or create a full new photoshoot" with tools such as Clothing, Background, Magic Fix and Expand, and Human Edit sends a written request to a person.

BetterPic's typed requests go to human editors through Human Edit; its AI tools are presets, and it offers no general text to image.

BetterPic pricing

Packs are "ONCE, for 1 person"; there is no monthly or annual subscription for individuals, and team pricing sits on a separate tab. Add-ons: further edit requests are $8 each, and a redo that generates a new set from your existing upload is $10. The Pro and Expert prices come from the page's structured data. Prices as of October 2026, from betterpic.io. Check the vendor for current pricing.

What BetterPic does well

4K on every pack

Even the $35 Basic pack delivers its 20 headshots in 4K, and the site promises results in under 60 minutes.

Clear ownership terms

BetterPic "grants you complete ownership and a full commercial licence", and says your uploads train only your own model and can be deleted on request.

Human editors for specific fixes

Human Edit takes a written request, such as "Remove the wrinkles and dark circles around the eyes", and the Expert pack includes unlimited human edits on 1 photo.

Preset AI tools after delivery

AI Studio covers Clothing, Background, Magic Fix, Magic Eraser, Expand, Skin Corrector, Eyes and Remove Background, and Clothing and Background runs generate 2 to 4 new variations each.

Built for teams too

Team credits each include a free Human Edit and a free redo, for teams of 10 to 100,000 employees, and BetterPic says data is mostly stored with partners in the EU.

Where BetterPic falls short

No refund after training starts

BetterPic refunds purchases within 7 days only if training has not started. The same pages also mention "a 100% money-back guarantee" without saying how it fits that rule.

Styles and AI Edits are capped

Each pack limits styles (1, 3 or 6) and AI Edits (2, 4 or 8), so the Basic pack gives one look.

Extra changes cost extra

Further edit requests are $8 each, and a redo from your existing upload is $10.

Web only and headshots only

BetterPic runs in a web browser, and no general text to image is offered.

Why people look for a BetterPic alternative

  • You want a cheaper first pack than BetterPic Basic at $35.
  • You want the option of a refund after seeing results, and BetterPic refunds only before training starts.
  • You want more than one look without buying a bigger pack, since Basic has 1 style.
  • You want to keep changing your photos yourself rather than paying $8 per edit request.
  • You want an app on your phone, and BetterPic lists only a web app.

The 6 BetterPic alternatives

Ordered by how well each replaces a headshot pack against the reasons above: other one-time headshot services first (lowest price, then more looks and apps), then a subscription that keeps generating photos of you, then tools for editing your own photo, and last a general workspace that is not a headshot service.

1. HeadshotPro

Best for: The lowest-priced one-time headshot pack with edit credits included

How it differs from BetterPic: HeadshotPro's Basic pack costs $29 for 30 headshots and includes 6 edit credits for backdrops, outfits and blemishes. Its $39 Professional pack gives 50 headshots, 26 edit credits and a free redo within 14 days, where BetterPic charges $10 for a redo outside its Expert pack.

Price: Basic $29 one-time (as of 2026-10)

Limitation: Only the $59 Executive pack includes a 4K upscale, and there is no free-form prompting.

2. Aragon AI

Best for: Bigger packs plus an iPhone, iPad and Mac app

How it differs from BetterPic: Aragon AI's Basic pack is the same $35 as BetterPic's but holds 40 headshots, and its Executive pack gives 100 with all attires and backgrounds. It also runs as an Apple app and sells an image generator, AI Chat and one-job editing tools such as a Pose Editor by subscription.

Price: Basic $35 one-time (shown at 20% off) (as of 2026-10)

Limitation: Basic and Standard photos are 896 x 1088 pixels, and refunds are given only if you have not downloaded the photos.

3. Photo AI

Best for: People who need fresh photos of themselves every month, not a single set

How it differs from BetterPic: Photo AI keeps a personal model trained on 5 to 15 of your photos, so you can generate new shots whenever you need them rather than buying another pack. Its Magic Edit changes any photo from typed text, the kind of request BetterPic routes to a human editor.

Price: Starter $19 a month billed monthly (as of 2026-10)

Limitation: It is a subscription with no free plan or trial listed, and its commercial license starts at the $49 Pro tier.

4. Facetune

Best for: Retouching and restyling your own portrait on a phone

How it differs from BetterPic: Facetune edits a photo you already have instead of training on 8 selfies. Its app lists AI Headshots, smoothing, reshaping and hairstyles, and its AI assistant takes simple prompts such as asking for smoother skin, on iPhone, Android and the web.

Price: 7-day trial; $77.99 a year or $25 a month (as of 2026-10)

Limitation: Its pages state no resolution, export format or commercial-use terms, and subscriptions must be cancelled 48 hours before renewal.

5. ChatGPT Images

Best for: ChatGPT users who want to restyle one portrait by asking in the chat

How it differs from BetterPic: In ChatGPT you attach a photo and ask for an edit, or select one area of it and describe what should change there. Its Free plan includes limited image creation, and it runs on the web, iOS and Android.

Price: ChatGPT Plus $20 a month; $0 Free plan with limited images (as of 2026-10)

Limitation: Image limits depend on your plan and workspace settings, and the Free plan's allowance is described only as limited.

6. ImageQuarry

Best for: Editorial portrait concepts where you want to direct every change yourself

How it differs from BetterPic: BetterPic delivers a set of headshots and sends written fix requests to human editors. In ImageQuarry you make the requests yourself: upload an image, ask for a change such as a different background or new color direction, and each result becomes a new version next to the earlier ones. You can branch from any earlier version if a direction does not work.

Price: Starter $9 a month, or Pro $29 a month (as of 2026-10)

Limitation: It is not a headshot service and delivers no headshot set; every plan is paid, and it has no published Terms yet.

Who should stay with BetterPic

  • You want 4K headshots from the cheapest pack, which BetterPic includes from Basic.
  • You want a person, not an AI tool, to make specific fixes, and the Expert pack's unlimited human edits on 1 photo suit you.
  • You buy headshots for a large team and want each team credit to include a free Human Edit and a redo.
  • You prefer a provider that states complete ownership and a full commercial licence in plain words.

How to switch from BetterPic to another headshot option

  1. Download your BetterPic headshots, including any AI Studio variations you liked, before you order elsewhere.
  2. Keep your 8 to 12 source selfies, since other headshot services and model trainers ask for their own uploads.
  3. If you might want a refund from the new service, read its rules before uploading: Aragon AI ties refunds to not downloading, and HeadshotPro offers a free redo within 14 days on its higher packs.
  4. If you only need small fixes to a headshot you already have, try an editor such as Facetune or ChatGPT on that photo before buying a new pack.

Does not carry over: The model BetterPic trained on your photos stays with BetterPic, and unused Human Edit requests do not move to another service.

BetterPic alternatives: questions

Is there a free alternative to BetterPic?

ChatGPT's Free plan includes limited image creation, so you can ask it to edit a portrait you attach, and Facetune's 7-day trial includes its AI Headshots tool. Headshot services such as HeadshotPro and Aragon AI sell paid one-time packs. Every ImageQuarry plan is paid.

BetterPic or HeadshotPro: which is cheaper?

HeadshotPro's entry pack is $29 for 30 headshots, and BetterPic's is $35 for 20 headshots in 4K. HeadshotPro's 4K upscale is on its $59 Executive pack only.

BetterPic or Aragon AI: what is the difference?

Both charge $35 for their entry pack. BetterPic gives 20 headshots in 4K, while Aragon gives 40 at 896 x 1088 pixels and adds Apple apps and subscription tools. BetterPic refunds only before training starts; Aragon only if you have not downloaded.

Can I change a BetterPic headshot by typing what I want?

Only through Human Edit, where a person carries out your written request; extra requests cost $8 each. Its AI Studio uses preset tools such as Clothing and Background. Photo AI's Magic Edit and ChatGPT both take typed changes directly.

How does ImageQuarry compare with BetterPic?

BetterPic makes headshot packs from your selfies. ImageQuarry is not a headshot service; it is a workspace where you upload an image or describe one, ask for changes in words, and keep every version, on Starter at $9 or Pro at $29 a month.

Create an image. Edit it with words. Keep refining.

Make the edit requests yourself

Upload an image, write the change you want, and keep each version so nothing you liked is lost.
