ImageQuarry and Getty Images AI: the differences that matter

Protection and licensed training

Getty says its model is "trained exclusively on licensed visuals" and that output will not include recognizable characters or logos, and it advertises legal protection of up to USD 50,000 per image on standard plans. Those are Getty's own claims. For brands with strict legal review this is the main reason to choose Getty. ImageQuarry has not published rights terms yet.

Both now edit from a sentence

Getty's June 2026 update lets customers "use natural language to describe the changes they want to see", alongside add or remove objects, replace background and extend image. ImageQuarry edits the same way, and each request builds on the version you selected.

Packs versus a monthly plan

Getty sells generations in packs that expire one year after the agreement date, and each modification uses one generation. ImageQuarry plans renew monthly with image credits, and optional metered overage stays off unless you turn it on.

Where history lives

Getty keeps a tray of modification history and access to generations from the past 6 months. ImageQuarry keeps versions with their prompts, references and conversation inside projects and a persistent library, and you can branch from any version.

Output you can plan around

Getty publishes download sizes: Medium or Large, with Large described as best in 4K, unwatermarked downloads and selectable aspect ratios. ImageQuarry has not published output specifications.

About each product

ImageQuarry

ImageQuarry is a conversational AI image workspace. You describe an image or upload one, then ask for specific changes in words, such as new lighting, a different background or an added object. Each change makes a new version and earlier versions are kept, so you can make variations, branch from any version, add reference images and organize the work in projects and a library. You can choose between four image models: Nano Banana 2.1 (the default), Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image 2.5 Flare and GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst. Plans: Starter at $9 per month with 100 image credits a month, and Pro at $29 per month with 300 image credits a month, with optional metered overage that is off unless you turn it on. Every plan is paid. ImageQuarry has not published output specifications or rights terms yet, and it is not a headshot or background removal tool.

Getty Images AI

Generative AI by Getty Images has two tools: Generate new images and Modify creative images. Each generate click produces four images, and the What's New log lists a model update in April 2026 for better prompt adherence and text in scene. Editing covers natural language changes, adding or removing objects, background replacement by color or prompt, extending an image and a click to select objects. Its pages contradict each other on uploads: the modification FAQ says you can only modify images you create, while the user guide lets you upload a reference or product photo. Pricing is by prepaid pack, and generated images are never offered for others to license.

Choose Getty Images AI when

  • Your legal team needs licensed training data and per image protection
  • You want images that will never be licensed to anyone else
  • You prefer prepaid packs to a subscription
  • You need published download sizes, including a Large option described as best in 4K

How to try both on the same image

  1. Take one product shot you need for a page or an ad.
  2. In Getty's generator, add your product photo as a reference and place it into a scene, then ask for one change in natural language.
  3. In ImageQuarry, upload the same product shot and ask for the same scene and the same change, then branch to try a second background.
  4. Compare the trade: Getty's protection and pack pricing against ImageQuarry's monthly plan and version branches.
