Ideogram vs Recraft for design-ready images

Both tools are aimed at people who design with images. Ideogram builds its own models, which it markets for readable type, and adds Precise Edit, a layout Studio and task apps. Recraft generates and edits images, editable vectors and mockups, builds custom styles from your images and connects to Figma, Framer and Google Slides. Choose Ideogram for type-heavy raster layouts and commercial use on its terms; choose Recraft when you need vectors, print settings or design tool integrations.

We make ImageQuarry, which is not one of these two products. We compared Ideogram and Recraft using their own public pages, checked October 20, 2026.

Raster images or vectors

Who owns free images

Recraft says images made on its Free plan are owned by Recraft, public and not licensed for commercial use, while paid plans grant full ownership. Ideogram says it does not claim ownership of generated images and that you are free to use them for any purpose, including commercial use.

Models beyond their own

Task apps or a full edit set

Questions about Ideogram vs Recraft

Which is better for logos and lettering?

Ideogram says its 4.5 model gives readable type in every layout, and Recraft highlights editable vector graphics and design-ready typography. If you need the logo as a vector file, Recraft's SVG output matters most.

Can I use free plan images commercially?

On Ideogram, yes, unless you are on Plus or Pro. On Recraft, Free plan images are public and paid plan images stay private.
