Ideogram vs Midjourney for images with type, edits and layouts
Ideogram is a generative media platform known for its own Ideogram models; it says Ideogram 4.5 keeps readable type in every layout, and it adds Precise Edit, a canvas with Magic Fill and Extend, apps and an API. Midjourney is a subscription generator with its own V8.2 model and a written-instruction Edit model. Ideogram publishes images by default unless you pay for Plus or Pro; Midjourney keeps them private only on Pro and Mega. Pick Ideogram for posters and layouts with text; pick Midjourney for its Discord workflow and documented sizes.
We make ImageQuarry, which is not one of these two products. We compared Ideogram and Midjourney using their own public pages, checked October 20, 2026.

Ideogram and Midjourney: the differences that matter
Text inside the image
Ideogram's own claim for Ideogram 4.5 is sharper prompt fidelity and readable type in every layout, and its Studio assembles image and text layers into a layout. Midjourney's pages read do not make a claim about text rendering.
Who sees your images
Ideogram publishes every image to its community by default; Plus and Pro subscribers can generate unpublished images. Midjourney keeps images private only with Stealth Mode on Pro and Mega.
Commercial use terms

About each product
Ideogram
Ideogram calls itself a generative media platform: purpose-built apps, its own Ideogram 3.0 to 4.5 models and models from other labs, and one API. Precise Edit changes an image from a focused instruction, Canvas adds Magic Fill and Extend, and Studio combines image and text layers. Plus is $20 and Pro $60 a month, or $15 and $42 billed yearly; images are public by default unless you have Plus or Pro.
Midjourney
Midjourney is a subscription image and video generator with its own models and four tiers from $10 to $120 a month. Its Edit model takes written instructions with up to 4 references, its Editor offers inpainting and outpainting, and Stealth Mode on Pro and Mega keeps work private. Commercial terms are on every plan.

Where ImageQuarry fits
ImageQuarry is for the iteration that follows a first image: ask for a new color direction or an added object in words, get a new version, and keep the earlier ones to branch from. It offers four image models by name, with Nano Banana 2.1 as the default, and keeps prompts, references and versions together in projects. Every plan is paid.
Questions about Ideogram vs Midjourney
Is Ideogram or Midjourney better at text in images?

Can I edit only part of an image?

Does Ideogram have a pay as you go option?
Yes. Ideogram sells credits on demand at 1 cent per credit, with API access. Midjourney sells extra Fast GPU time at $4 an hour on top of a subscription.
