Pincel (pincel.app) alternatives for editing photos with a text prompt
Pincel, the AI editor at pincel.app, is a browser suite of image, video and audio tools for business, led by an AI Photo Editor that edits, enhances or recolors a photo from a text prompt without manual selections. People look elsewhere because the editor page describes no stored version history and names no models, and because new users start with 20 credits at 2 credits per generation. Pixlr suits budget editors who want a saved history of up to 10 versions, MyEdit and Picsart suit people who want to pick the model, and Fotor suits those who want a no-cost plan with project folders. ImageQuarry suits editors who return to earlier rounds, since each requested change stays as its own version to branch from.
We make ImageQuarry, one of the alternatives below. Pincel and each alternative were compared on edit history, model choice, how you start, entry price and repeatable workflows, using each vendor's public pages, checked October 20, 2026.

What is Pincel?
Pincel describes itself as "AI image, video & audio tools for business" that run in the browser with "No install". Its AI Photo Editor lets you "Edit, enhance, or recolor any photo with a text prompt", and says you can "Make multiple changes, one after another". The homepage lists Text to Image, Object Remover, Photo Extender, Background Remover, Product Photos, Relight, AI Upscaler and Generative Fill among its tools. A Workflows canvas chains those tools into repeatable pipelines that run once per row of a list or from your own code.
Pincel is a toolbox for production editing (cutouts, relighting, upscaling, pipelines) with a prompt editor inside it, rather than a place to develop one image through many rounds.
Pincel pricing
From pincel.app/pricing. No annual price is shown. Top-up packs cost $19 for 1,000 credits, $79 for 5,000 and $199 for 15,000, credits never expire, and unused credits carry over each month while a plan is active. In the AI Photo Editor one generation costs 2 credits. Prices as of October 2026, from pincel.app. Check the vendor for current pricing.

What Pincel does well
Prompt edits with no masking
The AI Photo Editor transforms a photo from a text prompt "without needing manual selections", and you can stack several changes, one after another, on the same image.
A broad toolbox in the browser
Object removal, photo extension, background removal and generation, product photos, relighting, upscaling, a detailer and generative fill sit next to video and audio tools, all in the browser with nothing to install.
Pipelines you can rerun
The Workflows canvas connects tools into a chain such as "cut out the product, drop it in a scene, relight, upscale, export", shows each step's credit cost before you run it, and can repeat the chain for every row of a list or be called from code.
Credits that never expire
Pincel's pricing page says credits never expire and unused ones carry over each month while your plan is active, and top-up packs are sold at the same prices as the plans.
Plain usage and refund terms
The pricing FAQ says "anything you create with Pincel is yours to keep", the editor page says commercial usage is allowed, uploads are deleted within 1 hour, and a money back guarantee offers refunds "with no questions asked".
Where Pincel falls short
No stored version history described
The editor shows an "Iteration Mode" option and a "Match Input Image" label, but the page explains neither and does not describe a saved history of earlier edits.
The models are not named
Pincel's editor page gives no model names, so you cannot pick a different model when a result misses.
A small one-off start
New users get 20 credits, and each generation in the AI Photo Editor costs 2 credits; the Starter plan adds nothing beyond those 20.
A steep step between plans
After Creator at $19 a month, the next plan is Premium at $79, then Restless at $199, and no annual prices are shown.
Audience figures conflict
Pincel's pricing page says "Trusted by 1000+ creators every day" while its homepage claims "1.5M+ creators". Both are the vendor's own claims.
Why people look for a Pincel alternative
- You want to return to an earlier edit later, and Pincel's editor page describes no stored version history.
- You want to choose which image model makes the change, and Pincel names none.
- You want more than a 20 credit start, at 2 credits per edit, before you decide whether to pay.
- You want a paid plan below $19 a month, and Creator at $19 is Pincel's lowest paid tier.
The 5 Pincel alternatives
Ordered by how many of the four reasons above each one answers: a saved edit history, a choice of models, a larger start before paying, and a paid plan under $19 a month. Ties go to the tool that answers the earlier reason, then to the closer match for Pincel's text prompt editor.
1. Pixlr
Best for: Budget editors who want prompt edits with a saved history and many models
How it differs from Pincel: Pixlr's Instruct Editor takes a natural language prompt and "automatically saves your edit history with up to 10 versions", so you can click an earlier one to continue from there or download it. Its generator offers Flux models, Stable Diffusion XL and Nano Banana 2, and the free version works without an account.
Price: Plus $2.49 a month billed monthly; Premium $9.99 (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: Instruct Editor's FAQ promises unlimited editing on Plus while the pricing page gives Plus 80 AI credits a month, and uploading or publishing AI content grants Pixlr a broad licence.
2. MyEdit
Best for: People who want to chat their edits and choose a fast or a high fidelity model
How it differs from Pincel: MyEdit, from CyberLink, edits a photo through Edit by Chat and lets you choose Nano Banana for fast iterations or Flux for high fidelity work. A smart brush can limit the edit to one area, and free accounts can claim 3 credits every day, where Pincel's free start is a single allowance.
Price: 3 credits a day at $0; Business Pro $15 month to month (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: No version history is described for Edit by Chat, and the generator's FAQ says exports are JPG.
3. Picsart
Best for: Creators and small shops who want 65 models and bulk edits on web and phone
How it differs from Pincel: Picsart names its models, 65 of them, including Nano Banana 2.1, Nano Banana Pro and both GPT Image 2.5 models. Ideogram 4.5 inside it edits with up to 4 reference images and an optional mask, and Pro adds bulk edits of up to 50 images, which covers some of the batch work Pincel's pipelines do.
Price: Limited daily generations at $0; Pro $15 a month (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: Usage rights depend on the model and the plan, so each model's licensing needs checking inside Picsart.
4. ImageQuarry
Best for: Anyone who edits one image through many requests and wants to revisit any of them
How it differs from Pincel: Pincel lets you make several changes one after another. In ImageQuarry each of those requests produces a new version, the earlier ones stay with the prompts and references behind them, and you can branch from any of them to try another direction. You also pick the model per request from Nano Banana 2.1, Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image 2.5 Flare and GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst.
Price: $9 per month for Starter, $29 per month for Pro (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: Every plan is paid, and it is not a background-removal-only tool or a way to rerun one edit across a list of photos. ImageQuarry has also not published Terms or a rights policy yet.
5. Fotor
Best for: Casual editors who want a no-cost plan, named models and project folders
How it differs from Pincel: Fotor's generator says you "describe what to change in plain text", names models such as Nano Banana, Midjourney, FLUX and GPT Image, and combines up to 8 reference images into one output. Paid plans add project folders, from 100 on Pro, and a year of message history, and Fotor says all generated images are supported for commercial projects.
Price: Basic plan at $0; paid prices load by script on the main pricing page (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: Paid plan prices did not appear in the fetched pricing page, and a second Fotor pricing page shows different, possibly older figures.
Who should stay with Pincel
- You run the same edit across many product photos, and Pincel's Workflows canvas repeats a pipeline for every row of a list or from your code.
- You want credits that never expire and a money back guarantee, both stated on Pincel's pricing page.
- Your edits are one-step fixes (remove an object, relight, upscale, cut out a background) where a saved history matters less than having the tool to hand.
How to try an alternative alongside Pincel
- Download the edited images you want to keep, since Pincel says uploads are deleted from its servers within 1 hour and the editor describes no saved history.
- Write out the prompts that worked in the AI Photo Editor, such as a recolor or a background change, so you can reuse them word for word.
- Run three of those edits in the alternative on the same source photos, and try one follow-up change on each result.
- If you depend on a Pincel workflow, keep it running there and move only single-image editing until you know the new tool fits.
- Use up your Pincel credits while you compare, since they carry over only while your plan is active.
Does not carry over: Pincel workflows, List node setups and unused credits stay in your Pincel account.
Pincel alternatives: questions
Is there a free alternative to Pincel?
Pixlr works without an account and gives new users 20 images plus a 250 credit trial, MyEdit lets free accounts claim 3 credits a day, Picsart allows limited generations per day, and Fotor has a Basic plan at no cost. Pincel's own start is 20 credits for new users. Every ImageQuarry plan is paid.
Which Pincel alternative keeps a history of my edits?
Pixlr's Instruct Editor saves up to 10 versions and lets you continue from any of them. ImageQuarry keeps every version with the prompt and references that made it, and you can branch from an earlier one. Pincel's editor shows an Iteration Mode option but its page does not describe a stored history.
Which alternative lets me choose the AI model?
MyEdit's Edit by Chat offers Nano Banana or Flux, Pixlr's generator lists Flux models, Stable Diffusion XL and Nano Banana 2, and Picsart names 65 models. ImageQuarry offers four, Nano Banana 2.1, Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image 2.5 Flare and GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst, with Nano Banana 2.1 as the default.
What is the cheapest Pincel alternative?
On monthly billing, Pixlr Plus is $2.49 and Pixlr Premium $9.99, while MyEdit Business Pro and Picsart Pro are $15 each. Pincel Creator is $19 a month. Each tool spends credits differently, so compare the edits you would make rather than the credit totals.
Is there an alternative to Pincel's workflows for batch edits?
Picsart Pro bulk edits up to 50 images at once, and Ultra up to 100. Pixlr Agent runs multi-step workflows that combine generation, editing and effects. Neither is described as running a pipeline once per row of a list the way Pincel's List node does.
How does ImageQuarry compare with Pincel?
Pincel is a set of production tools with a prompt editor and repeatable pipelines. ImageQuarry focuses on one image at a time: start from a description or an upload, ask for a change in words, and keep each result as a version you can compare, choose and download. It is not a background-removal-only tool.
