Question
Will AI copy my reference image exactly?
No. AI image models use a reference as guidance, so the result follows its direction, such as the texture, palette or light, but not every detail. Patterns, text, logos and fine shapes are redrawn and can differ. If an element must be exact, place the original artwork yourself.
How closely a result follows a reference varies by model and by how you phrase the request. Saying exactly what to take ("the pleat pattern and ivory color of the fabric") gets closer than "use this image".
When a reference is followed too loosely, try a cleaner, more cropped reference, or one reference at a time. When it is followed too closely (its subject leaks in), say what not to take from it.
ImageQuarry treats references the same way: they guide the result, and you review each version to see how closely it followed them before you download.
