Question
How do I compare two versions of an AI image?
Put the two versions side by side at the same size and check them against your request: first what you asked to change, then what you asked to keep. Faces, text, product details and edges are the easiest things to miss at thumbnail size.
OpenAI's prompting guide recommends comparing results before adding more instructions and inspecting each result, because repeated edits can change details you meant to preserve.
Look at full size before you approve. Small errors, such as a misspelled word or a changed finger, often only show when you zoom in.
In ImageQuarry you compare versions, choose one and download it; earlier versions stay in the project.
| Check | What to look for |
|---|---|
| The requested change | It happened, and only where you asked |
| Kept details | Faces, hands, logos, labels and product shape match the earlier version |
| Edges | No halos, smears or repeated textures where old and new meet |
| Text | Every word spelled as intended; OpenAI notes its models can still struggle with precise text placement and clarity |
| Composition | Crop, horizon and title space unchanged unless you asked |
