Question
Which AI image generator is most realistic?
No single generator is the most realistic for every subject, because people, products, interiors and landscapes each fail in different ways. Realism depends on the model, the prompt and the kind of image, so the reliable test is to run your own prompt through two or three models and compare.
Prompts change realism as much as models do. Google's documentation advises describing photorealistic scenes "in rich detail", because "the more specific you are, the more control you have over the results".
Where realism tends to break: hands and fingers, small text, reflections, repeated patterns and the edges between subject and background. Check those at full size before you use an image. See Why does AI mess up hands?.
Published rankings date quickly, so the useful test is your own subject. ImageQuarry works with Nano Banana 2.1, Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image 2.5 Flare and GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst; you can choose a different model when you want a different result and compare the versions.
