Question
Can I sell AI-generated images?
Often, yes, if the tool's terms allow it, the image infringes no rights and the marketplace accepts AI content, which often must be labeled. Check the marketplace's rules before you list anything.
Start with the tool's terms: they say whether you may sell outputs, and conditions can differ by plan.
Then read the marketplace's rules. Adobe Stock, for example, requires contributors to check the "Created using generative AI tools" box for all AI content, to hold a model release when the work depicts or is based on an identifiable real person, and to keep artist names, real people and third-party IP out of prompts, titles and keywords.
Know what you are selling. Purely AI-generated material is not protected by US copyright, so you may not be able to stop others from copying it. Your human contributions, such as edits and arrangement, can be protected.
This is general information, not legal advice, and the rules differ by country.
