Photoroom vs Pixelcut: two product photo tools for sellers

Both tools are built for people who sell products online. Photoroom centers on e-commerce visuals: background removal, AI backgrounds, relighting and an Edit with AI tool where you describe a change such as "remove the label". Pixelcut pairs its editing tools with a Creative Agent you talk to, which generates images, edits earlier results and makes videos, and lets you pick from many named image models. Photoroom suits shops that want batch product photos with seats and a Shopify app; Pixelcut suits sellers who want a free plan and a choice of models.

We make ImageQuarry, which is not one of these two products. We compared Photoroom and Pixelcut using their own public pages, checked October 20, 2026.

Photoroom and Pixelcut: the differences that matter

Tools inside or outside the credit count

Photoroom keeps everyday tools such as Background Remover, Retouch, AI Shadows and AI Expand outside the credit count on every paid plan, and charges credits for AI Backgrounds Studio and Edit with AI. Pixelcut lists unlimited background removal and upscale on Pro, with 600 AI credits a month for generation.

Choosing the model

Pixelcut lets you pick the aspect ratio and the model for each image from a credit table that names Nano Banana 2.1, Flux 2 Pro, ChatGPT Image 2.5, Recraft v4 and Ideogram 4.5, among others. Photoroom's Image Generator page does not say which models it uses.

Larger shops and teams

Photoroom plans run up to 50 seats with a Brand Kit, batch editing and Team Workspaces, and Max adds a Shopify integration. Pixelcut's Business plan lists a 10 person team.

Output size

Photoroom says its export limits apply to assets up to 2K resolution, with 4K image and video listed only on Ultra. Pixelcut lists upscaling up to 16x, including Topaz models.

Commercial use wording

Pixelcut's generator page describes a worldwide, royalty-free license for every image, while its pricing page lists "Commercial license" only under Pro and Business. The Photoroom pricing page we read does not state usage terms.

Where ImageQuarry fits

ImageQuarry is a general purpose image workspace rather than a seller toolkit. You upload a photo or describe one, ask for a change in words, such as "Put the bottle on folded fabric. Warmer light.", and each change makes a new version while earlier versions are kept. You can branch from any earlier version to try another direction for the same product image. Plans start at Starter at $9 per month with 100 image credits a month.
