Krea vs Midjourney: a multi-model creative suite or one image model family

Krea is a web creative suite: its own Krea models and many third party image and video models, a real-time canvas, an agent that plans and refines, node workflows, LoRA training and upscaling up to 22K. Midjourney is a subscription generator built on its own model family, with an Edit model for written instructions and Draft batches of 24 images. Krea has a Free plan with 100 units a day; Midjourney starts at $10 a month. Pick Krea for breadth and tools; pick Midjourney for a focused, documented image workflow.

We make ImageQuarry, which is not one of these two products. We compared Krea and Midjourney using their own public pages, checked October 20, 2026.

Krea and Midjourney: the differences that matter

One suite for many models

Krea lists its own Krea 1, 2 and 3 models and third party ones including Flux 2, GPT Image 2.5, Ideogram 4.5, Nano Banana Pro, Recraft V4 and Seedream 4, plus video models. Midjourney sticks to its own versions and Niji.

Drawing and seeing results live

Krea's real-time canvas renders as you draw or type, and its Node Editor connects models, prompts and processing steps visually. Midjourney's Draft mode instead produces a batch of 24 low resolution images that you then vary or remix.

Training on your own images

Krea lets you train a LoRA on up to 50 images on Free, Basic and Pro, and up to 2,000 on Max. Midjourney's pages read describe Personalization and Moodboards but no model training.

One plan, one documented workflow

Midjourney documents each model version, output size and editing tool, and every plan carries its General Commercial Terms. Krea's pricing page shows different Max plan numbers on its card and in its page data, so check the plan you want at checkout.

Private work and the Discord habit

Midjourney runs in Discord as well as on its website and keeps images private with Stealth Mode on Pro and Mega. Krea is a web app with an API and plugins, and adds no-training clauses for your content on Business.

ImageQuarry sits closer to a conversation than to a node graph: describe an image or upload one, ask for one change at a time in words, and every result stays as a version you can branch from. It offers four image models by name, Nano Banana 2.1 by default, and keeps each project's prompts, references and versions together. Plans start at $9 a month.
