ImageQuarry vs FLUX: a conversational workspace or a pay-per-image model family

FLUX is a family of image models from Black Forest Labs, sold per image through an API and a browser Playground at the same price, plus open weights for self hosting. FLUX 3 Image edits from written instructions and can combine up to ten references. ImageQuarry is a workspace rather than a model vendor: you describe or upload, ask for changes in words, and keep every version in projects, on a monthly plan. Pick FLUX for direct model access and per-image pricing; pick ImageQuarry for a guided, saved editing conversation.

We make ImageQuarry. We compared it with FLUX using FLUX's own public pages, checked October 20, 2026, and say where FLUX does more.

ImageQuarry and FLUX: the differences that matter

Model access versus a workspace

Black Forest Labs sells FLUX models through a REST API, a browser Playground, an MCP server and open weights. ImageQuarry is an app where you work on images, with four models to choose from.

Instruction editing on both sides

FLUX 3 Image accepts edits written as instructions and uses bounding boxes to change one element. ImageQuarry also edits by instruction, and each change becomes a new version with the earlier ones kept.

Pay per image

FLUX pricing has no subscription or seat fee: "Only pay for what you generate," with FLUX 3 Image from $0.048 per 1K image and Klein from $0.008, as of October 2026. For occasional use, per-image billing can cost less than a monthly plan.

Published resolution and terms

FLUX lists per-size prices up to 4K and Developer Terms that give you ownership of outputs and allow commercial use, while it may embed Content Credentials. ImageQuarry has not published output specifications or rights terms.

Keeping a history without building one

With ImageQuarry, versions live with their prompts, sources, references and conversation in projects. The FLUX Playground is for experiments; with the API, history is what your own application keeps.

ImageQuarry vs FLUX, side by side

Checked against FLUX's public pages on October 20, 2026. "Not stated" means the pages we read do not say; it is not a claim that the feature is missing. "Not published" means ImageQuarry has not published that detail.

About each product

ImageQuarry

ImageQuarry is a conversational AI image workspace. You describe an image or upload one, then ask for specific changes in words, such as new lighting, a different background or an added object. Each change makes a new version and earlier versions are kept, so you can make variations, branch from any version, add reference images and organize the work in projects and a library. You can choose between four image models: Nano Banana 2.1 (the default), Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image 2.5 Flare and GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst. Plans: Starter at $9 per month with 100 image credits a month, and Pro at $29 per month with 300 image credits a month, with optional metered overage that is off unless you turn it on. Every plan is paid. ImageQuarry has not published output specifications or rights terms yet, and it is not a headshot or background removal tool.

FLUX

FLUX is the model family from Black Forest Labs (bfl.ai), now led by FLUX 3, described as "One multimodal model for Image, Video, Audio and Action-Prediction". Its image models include FLUX 3 Image and Klein and the FLUX.2 line, with instruction editing, up to ten references and tools for inpainting, outpainting and erasing. Pricing is pay per image or per second of video, at the same price in the API and the Playground, with no subscriptions, as of October 2026. Open weights are licensed for self hosting, and its Developer Terms give you ownership of outputs.

Which one fits your work

Choose ImageQuarry when

  • You want a ready workspace instead of model endpoints

  • You prefer paying per image with no subscription
  • You want open weights to self-host
  • You need published output sizes and ownership terms

How to try both on the same image

  1. Write one change as an instruction, for example "Use this texture on the jacket."
  2. Run it in the FLUX Playground with FLUX 3 Image.
  3. Run the same instruction in ImageQuarry on your selected version and keep both versions.
  4. Compare the cost of your volume under per-image pricing and under a monthly plan.
