Bing Image Creator alternatives for editing and keeping your images
Bing Image Creator is Microsoft's no-cost web and mobile tool that turns text descriptions into images and edits uploaded images, using Microsoft's MAI-Image-2.5-Flash and MAI-Image-2e models. People look elsewhere mainly because its terms contain no clause on commercial use while granting Microsoft rights to distribute creations, and because generated images are stored for up to 90 days, with no version history documented. Adobe Firefly fits people who need a commercial use statement, ChatGPT Images and Gemini fit editing by conversation, and Microsoft Designer fits quick designs in the Microsoft world. ImageQuarry fits people who want every edit kept as a version in a project.
We make ImageQuarry, one of the alternatives below. Bing Image Creator and each alternative were compared on editing in words, usage terms, daily limits, how long images are kept, account access and price, using each vendor's public pages, checked October 20, 2026.

What is Bing Image Creator?
Microsoft describes Bing Image Creator as "a free AI-powered tool that turns your descriptions into images", at bing.com/create, in the Bing mobile app and inside Copilot Search. You choose between MAI-Image-2.5-Flash and MAI-Image-2e, and each prompt may return several images. You can upload an image and ask for an edit, such as a new hairstyle, which always runs on MAI-Image-2.5-Flash. Each day brings a set of fast creations, then slower standard speed. Images go into Collections and are kept for up to 90 days. The terms also cover Bing Video Creator.
Bing Image Creator is separate from Microsoft Designer, though its terms say it was formerly called Image Creator from Designer.
What Bing Image Creator does well
No cost with a Microsoft account
Bing Image Creator is free for everyone with a personal Microsoft account, and no paid plan was found.
A choice of two Microsoft models
You can pick MAI-Image-2.5-Flash, labeled "Detailed & dynamic", or MAI-Image-2e for generation.
Edits on images you upload
Signed-in users can upload their own images to personalize results and ask for edits through an Edit image button.
Wide reach
It works on the web, in the Bing mobile app and in Copilot Search, is available globally except Russia and China, and supports over 100 languages.
Provenance built in
Microsoft's feature page says images carry content credentials based on the C2PA standard.
Where Bing Image Creator falls short
Commercial use is not addressed
The terms say Microsoft does not claim ownership of creations but grant Microsoft and partners rights to copy, distribute and publicly display them, and no clause on commercial or personal use was found.
Images are kept for 90 days
Generated images are stored for up to 90 days, and no version history or branching is documented.
Limits stated two ways
The create page promises 10 fast creations and unlimited standard ones, while the FAQ says 15 fast creations a day and 200 prompts per 24 hours, with each Edit image click counting.
Few editing tools
No inpainting, expand or upscale tools are documented, and edits run only on MAI-Image-2.5-Flash.
Not for work or school accounts
It is not available to users signed in with a Microsoft Entra ID, and the terms say unauthenticated users cannot generate creations even though the page shows guest messages.

- You want to keep your images and their history, and Bing stores generated images for up to 90 days.
- You need more editing control, such as working on one area, and Bing documents no inpainting, expand or upscale tools.
- You sign in with a work or school account, which Bing Image Creator does not accept.
The 5 Bing Image Creator alternatives
Ordered by how many of the reasons above each one answers, with usage terms and editing control weighed first. ImageQuarry is fourth: it is strong on keeping history and editing in words, but it has published no Terms yet.
1. Adobe Firefly
Best for: People leaving Bing for images they plan to use in business
How it differs from Bing Image Creator: Bing's terms do not mention commercial use, while Adobe says outputs from its own Firefly models are safe for commercial use. Firefly also has the editing tools Bing does not document: Generative Fill, Generative Expand, Generative Upscale and Prompt to Edit for objects and backgrounds. Free generations refresh every day.
Price: Daily no-cost generations; Standard plan US$9.99 a month (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: Content from partner models is yours to check for commercial use, and individual plans list no annual price.
2. ChatGPT Images
Best for: People who want to edit by conversation and select one area to change
How it differs from Bing Image Creator: ChatGPT lets you select a specific area of an image and describe the change for it, attach references for content or style, and comment on images in Canvas view. Its free plan includes limited image creation, and it runs on the web, iOS and Android.
Price: Limited image creation on the free plan; Plus $20 a month (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: Image limits vary by plan and workspace, and the image API is billed separately.
3. Gemini
Best for: People who want a no-cost Nano Banana generator with edits by asking
How it differs from Bing Image Creator: Gemini's free tier includes image generation and editing with Nano Banana 2: you ask it to change the background, replace an object or add an element, or upload a photo and ask for edits. It can take texture or style from a reference and combine two pictures, and images collect in a Library you can export to Docs.
Price: Free plan with image generation; Google AI Plus $4.99 a month (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: Gemini adds a visible watermark along with SynthID, downloads are 1K without a Google AI plan, and you must be 18 or over.
4. ImageQuarry
Best for: People who want their edits and versions kept together for later
How it differs from Bing Image Creator: Bing Image Creator returns a set of images per prompt and keeps them for a limited time. ImageQuarry keeps the whole path: the prompt, any upload, the references, each requested change and every version, organized in projects and a persistent library you come back to. You can branch from an earlier version and compare versions before choosing one to download.
Price: Starter, $9 per month; Pro, $29 per month (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: Every plan is paid, and ImageQuarry has not yet published Terms or a rights policy to check against business use.
5. Microsoft Designer
Best for: Personal projects like cards and invitations that need simple photo edits
How it differs from Bing Image Creator: Designer, Bing's sibling at Microsoft, turns a description into greeting cards, invitations, stickers and collages, and adds the photo tools Bing does not document: erase, background blur or removal, framing and upscaling up to 4K. It has iOS, iPad and Android apps and works inside Word and PowerPoint via Copilot.
Price: No cost to use; a subscription may be needed for frequent use (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: Designer is licensed for personal, non-commercial use, and its FAQ does not describe editing an image by describing the change.

- You want MAI-Image-2e or MAI-Image-2.5-Flash specifically.
- You work in one of the more than 100 languages Bing Image Creator supports.
How to try an alternative alongside Bing Image Creator
- Download the images you want from Collections soon, since Bing keeps generated images for up to 90 days.
- Keep copies of any photos you uploaded, because uploads are saved for a limited time as well.
- Copy your best prompts into a note so you can reuse them word for word.
- Run the same prompt and one edit request in the alternative and compare the results.
- Check the alternative's usage terms before using the images in business or client work.
Does not carry over: Bing Collections, Microsoft Rewards points spent on fast creations and your creation history stay with Bing.
