Question
Why does AI change my whole image when I ask for one change?
Because most AI editors redraw the whole picture, not only the part you named. Even with a mask, OpenAI describes masking as "entirely prompt-based", so areas you did not mention can shift. Saying what must stay the same, and editing from a clean version, keeps changes contained.
An image model does not cut and paste. It produces a new image that tries to match your instruction and the input, so color, grain, framing or small objects elsewhere can move along with the change you asked for.
Three habits reduce it: ask for one change at a time, list what must not change ("keep the crop, the background and the product label"), and go back to the earlier good version instead of stacking fixes on a version that already drifted.
ImageQuarry keeps every version next to the prompts and references that made it, so when an edit moves too much you can return to the previous version and ask again with a tighter instruction.
