Question
Does AI generate the same image twice from the same prompt?
No, not usually. Most image models start each image from random noise, so the same prompt gives a different image each time. Some developer APIs let you fix that random starting value, called a seed, to get the same output again, but not every model or tool supports it.
Stability AI's API documents a seed value that guides the randomness of generation, and omitting it gives a random seed. Google's documentation for its Imagen models says a seed gives deterministic output only when the watermark setting is turned off.
Even with the same seed, a different model or model version can produce a different result.
If you like an image, keep the image itself rather than counting on recreating it, and make further changes by editing it.
ImageQuarry keeps every version you create in your project with the prompt and conversation that produced it, so you go back to the image itself instead of trying to reproduce it.
