Question

Can AI add an object to a photo?

Yes. Describe the object and where it goes, such as "add a small potted plant on the right side of the desk", and the model places it in the scene. Google says its image models aim to match the original image's style, lighting and perspective when they add an element.

Give size and position in plain terms: on the left, in the background, about the size of the mug.

Check scale and contact. Added objects can float above surfaces or cast shadows in the wrong direction.

A reference image of the exact object helps when it has to match a real item; see What is a reference image in AI image generation?.

In ImageQuarry you can add a reference image of the object, ask for it to be placed, and compare the new version with the earlier one.
