Question
Are AI image generators private?
Not always. Some show your images publicly by default, some let human reviewers see a sample of content, and some use content for training unless you opt out. Privacy depends on the tool, your plan and your settings.
Public galleries are the clearest case. Midjourney limits Stealth Mode, which keeps images and videos private, to its Pro and Mega plans.
Human review is another. Google says a subset of Gemini chats is reviewed by human reviewers when activity is kept.
Training is the third. OpenAI, for example, says new ChatGPT conversations are not used for training when "Improve the model for everyone" is off, while Adobe says it has never trained Firefly on customer content. See Are uploaded images used to train AI models?.
Before you create anything sensitive, check all three for the tool you use.
