EDIT IMAGES
See your car in a new color before you pay for paint or a wrap
A respray or a full wrap is a big decision made from a tiny sample chip. In ImageQuarry you upload a photo of your car, select it and describe the color you are considering, such as a satin dark green, a gloss Nardo-style grey or a deep metallic blue. Every request makes a new version and keeps the earlier ones, so you can compare finishes on your actual car in your actual driveway.
Name the color, the finish and the parts that should keep their current color.

How to recolor a car with ImageQuarry
- 01
Use a clean side or three-quarter photo
Upload a photo where most of the bodywork is visible and the reflections are calm. An overcast day gives the most honest read of color; harsh midday sun creates hot spots that hide the finish.
- 02
Describe paint like a wrap shop would
Say the color and the finish together: matte, satin, gloss or metallic. Then list what to keep, such as the wheels, the black trim, the glass, the lights and the background, and check the new version against the original.
- 03
Compare the shortlist
Ask for one color per version. Every version stays in the workspace, so you can compare two greens side by side, choose one and download it to show the shop.
Car color requests to try
Example requests. Each creates a new version you review.
A satin wrap
Satin finishes are more forgiving of small dents than gloss, and they soften strong colors.
Classic gloss
If you are restoring an older car, try a factory-style color first.
Two-tone
A contrasting roof changes the proportions of the car and is a common wrap job.
Metallic or pearl
Flake catches light, so try it with a reflection in the photo.
Bold color
Bright colors look stronger on a whole car than on a swatch.
Chrome delete
Replacing chrome trim with black is a popular small change.
What to check in a car color preview
Finish changes the color
The same green looks brighter in gloss and darker, flatter in matte. Name the finish every time, and look at how the color behaves on the curved panels.
Reflections tell the truth
Body color is mostly what the panels reflect. A photo with the sky and surroundings reflected in the doors shows how a metallic or pearl will really read.
Trim and wheels set the look
The same body color feels sporty with black wheels and classic with silver ones. Say what should stay so you compare one change at a time.
Regulations differ
Some places require registration updates after a color change. Check the rules where you live before booking a full respray or wrap.
Each request a new version
Ask for the change in words on the version you selected; ImageQuarry makes a new version and the earlier ones remain.
How to word common car color changes
| What you want | What tends to go wrong | How to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Full wrap | Wheels and trim change too | List the wheels, trim, glass and lights as things to keep |
| Two-tone roof | Pillars change unexpectedly | Say the roof and pillars, or the roof only |
| Matte finish | Looks grey or dusty | Ask for matte with a clean, even surface |
| Metallic | Looks flat | Mention fine metallic flake and keep reflections |
| Pearl or color shift | Hard to read in one photo | Try two versions with different light, then compare |
| Chrome delete | Paint color changes | Name only the trim, badges and window surrounds |
What is an AI car color change?
It is an edit where you describe a new paint or wrap color in words and an AI image editor makes a new version of a car photo with that color, while you name the parts to keep. ImageQuarry keeps each version for side by side comparison.
It is not a manufacturer configurator and it does not give a paint code or a wrap film number. Use it to narrow the choice, then look at physical samples outdoors.
Car color questions
Can I change the color of my own car in a photo?
Yes. Upload the photo, select it and describe the color and finish you want. ImageQuarry creates a new version and the original stays for comparison.
How do I keep the wheels and windows the same?
Write them into the request as things to keep. A request can name what to keep as well as what to change; review the new version to see how well it followed that.
Can I compare matte and gloss?
Yes. Ask for the same color in each finish, one per version, then compare the versions and download the one you prefer.
Can I match a color from another car?
Add a photo of that car as a reference. References guide the result; review each version to see how closely it follows them.
Will the wrap look exactly like this?
Treat the version as a preview. Film and paint look different in real light, so confirm with a physical sample on the car before you commit.
Can I go back to an earlier color?
Yes. Branch from any earlier version and try another direction while the first path stays available.
Create an image. Edit it with words. Keep refining.
