Reve (reve.com) alternatives for editing images in chat

Reve, the AI image generator at reve.com, creates, edits and remixes images with its own Reve model, mixing edits you ask for in natural language with a drag-and-drop image editor. People look elsewhere mainly because Reve names no other models, no API or mobile app is listed on its pages as of October 2026, and output from free accounts may appear in its public Inspiration gallery. Ideogram fits designers who want layered layouts, an API and an iPhone app, Krea and Leonardo.Ai fit people who want many models in one account, and ChatGPT Images suits people who already edit in conversation. ImageQuarry suits people who want each asked-for change kept as a version they can return to.

We make ImageQuarry, one of the alternatives below. Reve and each alternative were compared on model choice, editing in words, gallery visibility, developer access, platforms and price, using each vendor's public pages, checked October 20, 2026.

What is Reve?

Reve describes itself as a way to "Reimagine reality. Create, edit, and remix images", combining "natural-language edits with a drag-and-drop image editor". Images come from Reve's own model, and its site shows graphic design, art direction and product photography as example uses. The Free plan already lists "Generate images", "Edit images just by asking" and "Brainstorm ideas in chat", and paid plans raise the allowance, add video and accept PDFs and audio as chat context. Both reve.art and reve.com now lead to the web app at app.reve.com.

Reve here is the AI image app at reve.com, which reve.art now redirects to, and not any other product that shares the name.

Reve pricing

From app.reve.com/pricing, monthly billing; no annual option was found. Usage is metered in energy, and plan allowances are stated as multiples of Free. Under Reve's Terms, unused energy expires without a refund and cancelled plans run to the end of the period with no prorated refund. Prices as of October 2026, from reve.com. Check the vendor for current pricing.

What Reve does well

Ask for an edit, then adjust by hand

Reve pairs natural-language edits with a drag-and-drop image editor, and even the Free plan lists editing images "just by asking" and brainstorming ideas in chat.

A model of its own

Images come from the Reve model, which the site links to directly and shows at work on graphic design, art direction and product photography.

A low first paid step

Lite costs $7.99 a month and gives five times the images and storage of Free, and Pro at $19.99 a month adds video and lets you upload PDFs and audio as context.

Plain ownership terms

Reve's Terms say you own the rights to the Output you create, subject to third party rights in any reference content, and paid account work is shared only if you choose to share it.

Shared references for teams

Teams lets members share images and references, pools energy across the team and manages billing from one account.

Where Reve falls short

Only Reve's model

Reve's pages name no third party image models, so a result that misses cannot be retried on a different model family inside Reve.

No API or app listed

Only the web app at app.reve.com was confirmed, and an official mobile app, API page or Discord was not listed on the pages that could be read as of October 2026.

Free output can be shown publicly

The Terms say output made with a Free Account may be made available to other users, including on Reve's Inspiration page, under a perpetual license to Reve and other users.

Allowances given as multiples

Lite and Pro are described as 5x and 100x the images of Free, and only Teams states a figure, about 1,500 images per user a month.

Unused energy is lost

Unused Energy or Boost Energy expires without a refund, and cancelling gives no prorated refund for the rest of the period.

Why people look for a Reve alternative

  • You want to choose between several model families, and Reve's pages name only its own model.
  • You need an API or a phone app, and neither is listed on Reve's readable pages as of October 2026.
  • You want free work kept out of public view, while Reve may show Free Account output on its Inspiration page.

The 6 Reve alternatives

Ordered by how many of the three reasons above each one answers (model choice, an API or phone app, and private work at no cost), then by how many ways it gives you to point at what should change, such as masks, selected areas, references or a chosen version.

1. Ideogram

Best for: Graphic designers who want readable type, layered layouts and developer access

How it differs from Reve: Ideogram 4.5 starts from an existing image when you describe a change, and Precise Edit adds optional masks and guiding references, much like Reve's mix of asking and hands-on editing. Its Studio assembles image and text layers into a layout, its catalog adds models from other research labs, and it offers an API and an iPhone app.

Price: Ideogram Plus at $20 monthly, or $180 for a year (as of 2026-10)

Limitation: Below Plus, every image is public in its community by default, and AI editing runs only on priority credits, which lapse at the end of each cycle.

2. Krea

Best for: People who want to run one brief through many model families and build on an API

How it differs from Reve: Krea lets you edit by typing or brief an Agent that plans and iterates across models, choosing from its own Krea 3 and third party families such as Flux, Ideogram, GPT Image and Nano Banana. Builders get a public API, and the Node Editor chains models, prompts and processing steps visually.

Price: Krea Basic $9 per month (monthly); 100 units daily at no cost (as of 2026-10)

Limitation: The pricing FAQ names only paid plans as carrying a commercial license, and monthly units on Basic to Max lapse instead of rolling over.

3. Leonardo.Ai

Best for: Creators who want many models plus iOS and Android apps

How it differs from Reve: Leonardo.Ai runs image models from several labs, among them GPT Image 2.5, Ideogram 4.5, Nano Banana Pro and Seedream 5.0 Pro, alongside its own Lucid models. It has iOS and Android apps, a REST API and an MCP server, and paid plans accept up to 6 image guidance references.

Price: $12 a month for Essential; 150 fast tokens per day at $0 (as of 2026-10)

Limitation: Its pages do not describe editing by typing a change, and free-tier creations are public.

4. ChatGPT Images

Best for: People who want to brainstorm and edit in one chat on web, desktop and phone

How it differs from Reve: ChatGPT works much like Reve's chat: you attach a reference and ask it to generate or edit, select an area and describe the change there, or comment on several images at once in Canvas view. It runs on web, iOS, Android and desktop, and OpenAI sells a separate image generation API.

Price: Go at $8 a month or Plus at $20 a month (as of 2026-10)

Limitation: ChatGPT's docs name one image model, gpt-image-2, and plan pages describe image use without stating counts.

5. ImageQuarry

Best for: People who refine one image over many requests and want to step back to any of them

How it differs from Reve: Reve lets you edit by asking in chat and then adjust by hand. ImageQuarry ties that conversation to a trail of versions: you select any version, describe the change, and get a new one while the earlier versions stay, so you can branch from a step several rounds back. References guide the direction, and you can choose between four models, with Nano Banana 2.1 as the default.

Price: Starter $9 or Pro $29, billed monthly (as of 2026-10)

Limitation: Every plan is paid, it makes stills and not video, and ImageQuarry has not published Terms or output specifications yet, so check them before client work.

6. Gemini

Best for: People who want Nano Banana edits in an assistant on Android and iPhone

How it differs from Reve: Gemini edits when you tell it to change the background, replace an object or add an element, and it applies the texture, color or style of a reference photo to your subject. It runs on the web, Android, iPhone and iPad, and paid Google AI plans add Nano Banana 2.1 and Redo with Pro.

Price: Google AI Plus $4.99 per month; Nano Banana 2 included at $0 (as of 2026-10)

Limitation: Gemini adds a visible watermark next to SynthID, and its image tools are only for people aged 18 or over.

Who should stay with Reve

  • You like the look of Reve's own model for graphic design, art direction or product shots, and asking for edits plus drag and drop covers your fixes.
  • You want a cheap first plan: Lite at $7.99 a month lifts your allowance to five times Free.
  • Your team shares images and references, which Teams offers at $59 per user a month for five seats or more.
  • You value Reve's statement that you own the Output you create, and you pay so your work stays unshared unless you choose.

How to try an alternative alongside Reve

  1. Download the images you want to keep from app.reve.com before you change plans.
  2. Copy the chat requests behind your best edits, such as a color change or a new background, so you can repeat them word for word.
  3. Gather the reference images you used, and note any that belong to someone else, since Reve's Terms say ownership of output may be subject to the rights of reference owners.
  4. Run three briefs in the alternative, one from text and two edits to uploaded images, and compare them with Reve's results.
  5. Time any cancellation for the end of your billing period, since Reve gives no prorated refund and unused energy expires.

Does not carry over: Reve chat history, energy balances and images shared in a Teams workspace stay in Reve.

Reve alternatives: questions

Is there a free alternative to Reve?

Gemini's $0 plan includes image generation and editing with Nano Banana 2, Krea gives 100 units a day, Leonardo.Ai 150 fast tokens a day, Ideogram weekly credits for eligible free accounts, and ChatGPT limited image creation on its free plan. Reve itself has a Free plan with generation and editing by asking. Every ImageQuarry plan is paid.

Is there a Reve alternative with an API?

Ideogram calls image and video models through one API, with pay as you go credits at 1 cent each, Krea has a public API, Leonardo.Ai sells pay as you go API credit, and OpenAI sells an image generation API apart from ChatGPT. Reve's readable pages list no API as of October 2026.

Which alternative keeps my images out of a public gallery?

Ideogram Plus and Pro can generate unpublished images, and Leonardo.Ai keeps creations private on paid plans from $12 a month. On Reve, Free Account output may be shown on the Inspiration page, while paid account work is shared only if you choose.

Which Reve alternative edits an image when I describe the change?

ChatGPT edits from a description and can limit it to a selected area, Gemini changes backgrounds or objects when you ask, Ideogram's Precise Edit takes a focused instruction with optional masks, and Krea edits by typing. In ImageQuarry, each described change becomes a new version and the earlier ones stay.

How does ImageQuarry compare with Reve?

Reve generates with its own model and combines edits by asking with a drag-and-drop editor. ImageQuarry offers four models for the same request and keeps every change as a version in a project, together with the prompts and references behind it, so you can compare versions and branch from an earlier one.
