Magnific alternatives for former Freepik users and upscaling
Magnific, the platform formerly called Freepik (freepik.com now redirects to magnific.com), is a multi-model AI creative platform for image, video, audio and 3D, with an image editor, an upscaler, the node-based Spaces canvas and a stock library of over 250 million assets. People look elsewhere mainly because its pricing page shows plans as annual prices, and because its free plan is described in stock downloads rather than image generations. Krea is the closest all-round swap, Deep-Image.ai suits people who came for the upscaler, ComfyUI suits those who want an open node graph they run themselves, and Adobe Firefly suits Adobe users. ImageQuarry suits people who refine one still image through many described changes.
We make ImageQuarry, one of the alternatives below. Magnific and each alternative were compared on model range, upscaling, editing in words, how you start, billing period and platforms, using each vendor's public pages, checked October 20, 2026.

What is Magnific?
Magnific calls itself "The creative platform to direct your best work. Every AI model for video, image, and audio." Its menu covers an AI Image Generator, Image Editor, Upscaler, Extender, Background Remover and Relight, plus video, audio, 3D, design tools and a stock library of more than 250 million assets. Its own Magnific One model sits next to Nano Banana 2, Nano Banana Pro, GPT 2.5 Medium, Grok, Flux.2 and Recraft V4.1. Spaces is a node-based canvas for branching ideas and comparing versions, and Magnific says Freepik accounts, projects and history moved over unchanged.
Magnific is now the whole former Freepik platform, not only the standalone upscaler that ran at magnific.ai, which Magnific calls its legacy service.
Magnific pricing
Magnific's pricing page showed annual prices, with the higher figure struck through beside each one and "Save 25% with annual" on the toggle; a monthly billing price was not shown as its own value. Prices exclude VAT and local taxes, and on Premium the credits are valid for a year with no monthly resets. Prices as of October 2026, from magnific.com. Check the vendor for current pricing.

What Magnific does well
Its own model next to many outside ones
Magnific prices its new Magnific One model at 2K and 4K alongside Nano Banana 2, Nano Banana Pro, GPT 2.5 Medium, Grok, Flux.2 Pro and Max, Recraft V4.1 and an Ideogram model, all inside one account.
A node canvas that branches and compares
A Wayback capture of Magnific's homepage describes Spaces as "One infinite, node-based canvas. Branch ideas, compare versions, work with your team", with Projects for brand assets and workflows you can save as an App.
Editing by prompt, drawing or reference
As indexed by search engines, Magnific's AI Photo Editor page says you can refine a photo by typing a prompt, drawing on it or supplying a reference image, with background removal, object erase and restyle in the same tool.
Upscaling and references built in
The same capture says Magnific can "Upscale images up to 10K with real detail" and generate images with multi-image references, keeping characters and brand consistent across shots.
Available almost everywhere you work
The pricing page lists the web, a Desktop App, a Mobile App, an API with credit-based usage, MCP for Claude and ChatGPT, plugins and Magnific for ComfyUI.
Annual credits that do not reset monthly
Premium includes 240K credits a year that stay valid for the full year, with a Commercial AI license and a statement of no model training on your data. For enterprise and teams, a homepage capture adds "Full legal protection for AI-generated content used commercially."
Where Magnific falls short
Monthly billing price is not shown
The pricing page shows each plan as a per month figure billed annually, with the higher price struck through, and the monthly billing price was not rendered as a separate value.
The free plan is described in stock downloads
Magnific's pricing page says Free plan users get 10 stock downloads a day and mentions limits for sound and voice, and a free image generation allowance is not listed on its pages as of October 2026.
Credit cost differs a lot by model
One Magnific One Max 4K image costs 1,000 credits, against 75 credits for a Google Nano Banana 2 image at 2K and 50 for Flux.2 Pro at 1K.
Taxes come on top
Magnific states that its prices exclude VAT and local taxes.
Why people look for a Magnific alternative
- You want to pay month to month and see that price up front, and Magnific's pricing page shows annual billing figures.
- You want a renewing free allowance for generating images, and Magnific's free plan is described as 10 stock downloads a day.
- You came for the original Magnific upscaler, and a fetch of magnific.ai now redirects to magnific.com, a platform covering image, video, audio and 3D.
- You make high-resolution images often and want to avoid per-image costs as steep as 1,000 credits for Magnific One Max 4K.
The 6 Magnific alternatives
Ordered by how many of the reasons above each one answers: monthly billing shown, a renewing or no-cost start, and a strong upscaler. ImageQuarry comes last here, since Magnific's Spaces already branches and compares versions, and every ImageQuarry plan is paid.
1. Krea
Best for: People who want Magnific's model range, upscaling and video in a suite with monthly billing
How it differs from Magnific: Krea, like Magnific, hosts its own models next to Flux, Nano Banana, GPT Image, Ideogram and Recraft. Its Enhancer upscales to 2K on the free plan, and paid plans add upscalers such as Topaz Standard with outputs up to 22K. Its pricing lists monthly billing, starting with Basic at $9.
Price: From $9 a month on Basic (monthly billing), or 100 free units each day (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: Krea's compute units on Basic, Pro and Max do not roll over, and no iOS or Android app was found on its pages.
2. Deep-Image.ai
Best for: People who mainly used Magnific to upscale and want an enhancer first
How it differs from Magnific: Deep-Image.ai puts enhancement and upscaling first, to sizes it describes as up to 300 megapixels, which is the job many people used the old Magnific upscaler for. Its Prompt Based Edit takes a written instruction on up to 3 photos and, per its announcement, keeps a full history you can jump back through and branch from. It also lists an API, a Python client, Zapier and Make.
Price: Credits from as low as $0.04 each; named plan prices were not in the page text (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: Its plans page gives two different numbers for the starting credits (10 and 5), and cancelling a membership loses your remaining credits.
3. Adobe Firefly
Best for: Adobe users who want generation, typed edits and upscaling with a daily free allowance
How it differs from Magnific: Firefly covers the generate, edit and upscale steps Magnific users rely on: Prompt to Edit changes objects and backgrounds from a typed description, and Generative Upscale raises resolution. Its free daily generations refresh every day, its individual plans are priced per month, and Adobe says outputs from its own Firefly models are safe for commercial use.
Price: US$9.99 a month for Firefly Standard, after free daily generations (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: Adobe's commercial safety statement covers its own Firefly models only, so partner model output is yours to check, and no annual price is shown for individual plans.
4. ComfyUI
Best for: Technical users who want an open node graph on their own machine instead of Spaces
How it differs from Magnific: ComfyUI is an open source node graph under the GPL v3 license, so it covers the same node-canvas idea as Magnific Spaces on your own hardware. Its README lists Flux.2, Qwen Image and SD3.5 for generation, plus inpainting, outpainting, reference conditioning and upscaling tools. Comfy Cloud runs it for you if your computer is not up to it.
Price: Open source; Comfy Cloud Standard $20 a month billed monthly (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: You install, update and wire the workflows yourself, and Comfy Cloud runs stop at 30 minutes except on Pro.
5. Higgsfield
Best for: Video and ad creators who want hosted image and video models with monthly plans
How it differs from Magnific: Higgsfield is the other suite searchers set beside Magnific: it hosts Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image, Seedream and FLUX for images next to its video tools, Ads Studio and AI Influencer. You edit by brushing over an area with Nano Banana Pro Inpaint, and Soul ID keeps a character consistent. Its blog lists monthly list prices.
Price: $15 a month for Starter, as listed on Higgsfield's blog (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: Free accounts get no credits and every free generation carries a watermark, and Higgsfield says it may use content to train its models.
6. ImageQuarry
Best for: Still images that are refined through a long run of written change requests
How it differs from Magnific: Magnific's Spaces lays out branches and versions as nodes across image, video and audio models. ImageQuarry keeps that idea inside a plain conversation about one still image: pick a version, write what should change, and the result lands beside the versions before it. You can branch from an earlier step, attach a reference for a palette or material, and pick one of four models, Nano Banana 2.1 by default.
Price: $9 a month for Starter, $29 a month for Pro (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: ImageQuarry makes no video, is not a stock library, publishes no output specifications, so it is no stand-in for an upscaler, and every plan is paid.
Who should stay with Magnific
- You use the stock library and AI tools together, since Magnific pairs more than 250 million stock assets with its generators.
- You already pay annually and like credits that stay valid for the whole year instead of resetting each month, or you need the enterprise promise of legal protection for AI content used commercially.
- You build in Spaces with saved workflows and Projects, or run Magnific inside ComfyUI, through MCP or through its API.
- You had a Freepik account: Magnific says it works on magnific.com with the same login, with your projects and history in place.
How to try an alternative alongside Magnific
- Note which models produced your best Magnific results (Magnific One, Nano Banana 2, Flux.2 and so on), since Krea and others also host several of them.
- Download the generated images and stock assets you still need from your Magnific projects before you change plans.
- Pick one upscale job and one edit you do often, and run both in the alternative with the same source image.
- If you are on an annual plan, keep using the credits you have, since Magnific says they stay valid for the year.
- Rebuild one Spaces workflow in the new tool's own canvas or node editor before moving the rest.
Does not carry over: Spaces workflows, saved Apps and Magnific Projects stay in Magnific; only the files you download move to another tool.
Magnific alternatives: questions
Is Magnific the same as Freepik?
Yes. Magnific says "Freepik is now Magnific: same company, same team, same platform", and freepik.com now redirects to magnific.com. Existing Freepik accounts sign in on magnific.com with the same email and password, so a Freepik alternative and a Magnific alternative are the same search.
Is there a free alternative to Magnific?
Krea's free plan gives 100 units a day, Adobe Firefly has free daily generations, and ComfyUI is open source software you run yourself, with 5 free runs on Comfy Cloud for new users. Magnific's free plan, as its pricing page describes it, gives 10 stock downloads a day. Every ImageQuarry plan is paid.
What is a good Magnific upscaler alternative?
Deep-Image.ai is built around enhancement and upscaling, up to 300 megapixels by its own description. Krea's paid plans include upscalers such as Topaz Standard with outputs up to 22K, and Adobe Firefly has Generative Upscale. A Magnific homepage capture says it upscales up to 10K, and the legacy magnific.ai address now redirects to magnific.com.
Is ComfyUI an alternative to Magnific?
For node-based work, yes. ComfyUI is an open source node graph for image, video and audio workflows that runs on Windows, Linux and macOS, while Magnific Spaces is a node canvas inside Magnific. Magnific also lists Magnific for ComfyUI, so the two can be used together.
Which Magnific alternatives have an API?
Krea has a public API for images and video, Higgsfield lists an API and MCP, ComfyUI offers API endpoints with Comfy Cloud, and Deep-Image.ai lists an API with a Python client. Magnific also offers API access with credit-based usage.
How does ImageQuarry compare with Magnific?
Magnific is a broad platform with stock, video, audio, 3D and an upscaler. ImageQuarry focuses on still images: you start from a description or an upload, ask for changes in words, and every change becomes a new version you can return to or branch from. Its two plans are Starter at $9 and Pro at $29 a month.
