DeepAI alternatives for owning your images and choosing models

DeepAI is an all-in-one creative AI platform in the browser for images, video, music and chat, whose AI Photo Editor changes 1 to 3 uploaded images from a written description. People look elsewhere mainly because DeepAI says its generated images are public domain with no owner, and because its pages name only its own Standard, Genius and Super Genius modes rather than other model families. Ideogram fits designers who want unpublished images and plain usage terms, Leonardo.Ai fits creators who want to own their paid work and pick from many models, and Krea suits people after larger upscales and a public API. ImageQuarry fits people who edit one image over many rounds and keep each version.

We make ImageQuarry, one of the alternatives below. DeepAI and each alternative were compared on usage terms, model choice, editing in words, image size, developer access and price, using each vendor's public pages, checked October 20, 2026.

What is DeepAI?

DeepAI calls itself "the all-in-one creative AI platform built for everyone", covering images, video, music and voice chat, and says it began with "the first browser-based text-to-image generator". Its generator has Standard, HD, Genius and Super Genius modes with more than 100 styles, and the AI Photo Editor lets you "Upload 1-3 images and describe your edits". DeepAI also markets itself as "World's best value AI at $9.99 per month", a claim of its own.

DeepAI is a general AI platform where image generation and editing sit next to chat, video and music, not a workspace built only around images.

DeepAI pricing

What DeepAI does well

Describe the edit across up to three images

The AI Photo Editor takes 1 to 3 uploads and a description, from "make the sky red" on one image to "apply the style of the first to the others" across several, with Undo, Redo and a choice of Standard, Genius or Super Genius.

Every result is one click from an edit

Under a generated image you can choose Edit and describe the change, or Enhance, Remove Background, Animate, or open it in Photopea.

Stated allowances at a low monthly price

DeepAI Pro costs $9.99 a month and spells out 500 HD, 60 Genius and 10 Super Genius 2K images a month, or $89.99 billed annually.

Start without an account

The Free plan needs no account balance, and the homepage says you can explore DeepAI without creating an account.

An API and apps beyond the browser

REST endpoints cover generation, editing, upscaling and background removal, and DeepAI runs on the web, Google Play, the App Store, a Mac app and iMessage.

Where DeepAI falls short

Images have no owner

DeepAI permits commercial use but says generated images are "considered public domain and hence, they have no owner."

Small sizes below the top mode

HD images are 640 by 640 and Genius 1024 by 1024, and Super Genius is listed as 2K, though one line on the same page also mentions 4K.

Only DeepAI's own modes

The generator and editor offer Standard, HD, Genius and Super Genius, and no other model families are named.

The API needs Pro

DeepAI's API page says "API calls require an active DeepAI Pro subscription."

Private generation stated in one place only

The homepage lists private generations as a Pro benefit, but the pricing page does not mention them.

Why people look for a DeepAI alternative

  • You want usage terms that leave your images with you, while DeepAI treats generated images as public domain with no owner.
  • You want other model families to choose from, and DeepAI names only its own Standard, Genius and Super Genius modes.
  • You want private generation spelled out on the plan you buy, and DeepAI's pricing page does not mention it.

The 5 DeepAI alternatives

Ordered by how many of the three reasons above each one answers (terms that leave images with you, other model families, private generation stated on the plan), then by how close its editing is to DeepAI's upload-and-describe Photo Editor.

1. Ideogram

Best for: Designers who want unpublished images, readable layouts and other model families

How it differs from DeepAI: Ideogram states that it does not claim ownership of your generated images and that you can use them for any purpose, and Plus or Pro let you generate unpublished images. Its Precise Edit takes a focused instruction with optional masks and references, and its catalog mixes Ideogram models with models from other labs.

Price: Plus costs $20 per month (or $180 per year) (as of 2026-10)

Limitation: On the free tier images are published by default and eligible accounts get only weekly credits, and editing does not run in the slow queue.

2. Leonardo.Ai

Best for: Creators who want to own their paid work and choose from many models

How it differs from DeepAI: Leonardo.Ai says paid subscribers keep full ownership and copyright of the images they generate, and its paid plans make creations private, starting with Essential. It documents models from several labs, including FLUX.2 Pro, GPT Image 2.5, Ideogram 4.5 and Nano Banana Pro, beside its own Lucid and Phoenix.

Price: Essential, $12 per month (as of 2026-10)

Limitation: Its pages do not describe editing by typing a change, which DeepAI's Photo Editor does, and on the free tier Leonardo.Ai holds rights to use your images.

3. ImageQuarry

Best for: People who edit one image over many rounds and want each result kept

How it differs from DeepAI: DeepAI's Photo Editor applies a described edit to up to three uploads, with Undo and Redo. In ImageQuarry, each described change becomes a new version that stays in a project with its prompt and references, so you can compare results and branch from any earlier one. Its four models come from two families, Google and GPT Image.

Price: Starter is $9 a month and Pro $29 a month (as of 2026-10)

Limitation: Every plan is paid, it makes no video or music, and ImageQuarry has published no Terms yet, so check usage terms before client work.

4. Krea

Best for: People who want many image and video models, large upscales and a public API

How it differs from DeepAI: Krea runs its own Krea 3 next to third party models such as Flux, Ideogram, GPT Image and Nano Banana, and its paid plans include upscalers that support outputs up to 22K, where DeepAI's top Super Genius mode is listed at 2K. You can edit by typing and call a public API.

Price: $9 a month for Krea Basic, monthly (as of 2026-10)

Limitation: Only Krea's paid plans are named in its FAQ as including a commercial license, and its pages list no phone app.

5. ChatGPT Images

Best for: People who want an all-in-one assistant like DeepAI with finer control over edits

How it differs from DeepAI: ChatGPT is a general assistant too, and its image docs describe attaching a reference, selecting a specific area and describing the change there, or commenting on several images in Canvas view. Projects keep related chats, files and sources together, and it runs on web, iOS and Android.

Price: ChatGPT Plus at $20 monthly; Go at $8 (as of 2026-10)

Limitation: Its plan page describes image use as limited or more without figures, unlike DeepAI Pro's stated monthly image allowances.

Who should stay with DeepAI

  • You want images, video, music and chat in one $9.99 a month plan with stated monthly image allowances.
  • You build on the API, which comes with DeepAI Pro and covers generation, editing and background removal.
  • You make occasional edits without an account, using the Free plan's limited photo editor.
  • You like finishing a result in Photopea, one click from a DeepAI image.

How to try an alternative alongside DeepAI

  1. Download the images and edits you want to keep from DeepAI to your own device.
  2. Note which mode (Standard, HD, Genius or Super Genius) and which style produced each favorite, since most alternatives name models instead of modes.
  3. Run three of your briefs in the alternative, including an edit like "make the sky red" on an uploaded photo, and compare the results.
  4. If your app calls api.deepai.org, keep Pro active until the new API is in place, since DeepAI API calls need an active Pro subscription.
  5. If you pay $89.99 a year for Pro, finish comparing before the renewal date.

Does not carry over: DeepAI wallet credits, chat history and unused Pro allowances stay with DeepAI.

Who owns images made with DeepAI and its alternatives?

DeepAI permits commercial use but calls generated images public domain with no owner. Leonardo.Ai says paid subscribers keep full ownership and copyright, and Ideogram says it does not claim ownership of your images and lets you use them for any purpose. Read each tool's terms before client work.

Which DeepAI alternative has an API?

Krea offers a public API, Ideogram sells API access with pay as you go credits, Leonardo.Ai's API is pay as you go and separate from its web plans, and OpenAI sells an image generation API apart from ChatGPT. DeepAI's API requires an active Pro subscription.
