Bring 1920s art deco glamour into a room by describing its geometry

Art deco began in Paris in the 1920s and spread through cinemas, hotels and ocean liners in the 1930s. It is easy to spot: strong geometric patterns, stepped forms, fans and sunbursts, lacquered and mirrored surfaces, brass and chrome, and deep jewel colors set against black and cream. In ImageQuarry you can describe an art deco room or upload yours and ask for those motifs and materials, then decide how much glamour the room can take through successive versions.

Pick the motifs and the metals, then dial the drama up or down across versions.

How to create an art deco interior with ImageQuarry

  1. 01

Describe the room or upload yours

Start from a written description or from a photo of your space. Art deco is bold, so seeing it in your own room helps you judge the dose.

  2. 02

    Choose the geometry

Ask for fan, sunburst, chevron or stepped patterns on a wall, a rug or the floor. Geometry carries the style more than any single piece.

  3. 03

    Add materials and color

Select a version and ask for brass, lacquer, mirrored or fluted surfaces, and jewel tones such as emerald, sapphire or deep teal.

  4. 04

    Balance it

Compare a full deco version with one that uses deco accents on a calmer base, and keep the one that suits the room.

Art deco requests to start from

Requests to try. Each one makes a new version.

Geometric wallpaper

A patterned wall is the quickest way to set the period, because it fills the eye before any furniture does.

Curved velvet seating

Rounded sofas and club chairs are typical.

Brass and mirror

Reflective surfaces add glamour.

Black and white floor

Graphic floors are common in deco halls and bathrooms.

Fluted details

Vertical grooves on wood and glass.

Deco accents only

A lighter approach for modern homes.

What makes a room read as art deco

Bold geometry

Fans, sunbursts, chevrons, zigzags and stepped shapes appear on walls, floors, furniture and mirrors.

Luxe, reflective materials

Lacquer, polished wood, brass, chrome, mirror and glass, often combined in one piece.

Strong color contrast

Black, cream and gold with jewel tones such as emerald, sapphire, ruby and teal.

Streamlined curves

Rounded sofas, club chairs and curved corners balance the sharp geometry.

Ask, then look

Select a version and describe the change; each request builds on the version you chose instead of starting again.

Keep each version

Every change produces a new version, and the earlier ones are preserved for comparison.

What is art deco interior design?

Art deco is a design style from the 1920s and 1930s known for bold geometric patterns, luxurious materials such as lacquer, brass and mirror, streamlined curves and strong contrasts of black, cream, gold and jewel colors.

It is not the same as art nouveau, the earlier style built on flowing natural lines and plant forms; art deco replaced those curves with geometry.

Art deco interior questions

Can I see an art deco version of my bedroom?

Upload a photo, select it and ask for deco wallpaper, furniture or lighting, naming what to keep. The result is a new version beside your original.

How much art deco is too much for a small room?

Usually one strong pattern and two or three reflective pieces. Make a full version and a lighter one and compare.

Which colors are authentic to art deco?

Black, cream and gold with jewel tones such as emerald, sapphire, ruby and teal, plus soft pinks in some 1930s interiors.

Can I keep both a bold and a subtle version?

Yes. Versions live in the workspace with the prompts and changes that made them, so you can return to either.

Can I use a pattern I found as a guide?

Add an image of it as a reference. That pattern will guide the result; review each version to see how faithfully it was used.

Is there a monthly fee?

Yes, ImageQuarry is a paid monthly subscription with Starter and Pro plans.

Create an image. Edit it with words. Keep refining.
