## Pricing questions

### Do higher-resolution AI images cost more?

Often, yes. Google's Gemini API lists Nano Banana 2.1 at $0.0336 for a 1K image and $0.113 for a 4K image, because larger outputs take more compute.

### Does editing an image cost the same as generating one?

Often, yes. Most AI image models make a complete new image for every edit, so an edit is billed much like a new generation. The exact cost depends on the tool, the model and the output size, so check the tool's credit rules.

### How do credits work in AI image tools?

A plan gives you a balance of credits, and each generation or edit uses some. Cost per request depends on the tool, the model and the kind of work.

### How much does AI image generation cost?

AI image generation ranges from a few cents per image through a developer API to monthly plans of roughly $10 to $120, by model, size and volume.

### How much does ImageQuarry cost?

ImageQuarry has two monthly plans: Starter at $9 with 100 image credits, and Pro at $29 with 300 image credits. Every plan is paid. Optional metered overage is available on both plans.

### Is a subscription or pay-per-image better for AI images?

A subscription is usually better if you make images every week. Pay-per-image suits occasional use or developers building generation into an app. Compare both against a month of your real work.

### What happens when I run out of ImageQuarry credits?

Turn on optional metered overage to keep creating: $0.12 per extra credit on Starter, $0.09 on Pro. It is off unless you turn it on.

### What is metered overage on a subscription?

Metered overage means you pay for each extra unit you use after your plan's included amount is used up, instead of being stopped or moved to a bigger plan. It is billed by measured use, usually per credit.

### What is the difference between ImageQuarry Starter and Pro?

Price and monthly usage. Starter is $9 a month with 100 image credits; Pro is $29 a month with 300 image credits. Optional overage rates also differ by plan.

### Why do AI image tools use credits?

Because each image request has a real compute cost, and that cost changes with the model, the image size and the kind of work. Credits turn those different costs into one balance you can see and plan around.

### Why is AI image generation expensive to run?

Every AI image runs a very large model on specialized hardware, paid for on each request. Bigger images and some models cost more. That is why most tools meter usage with credits or plans.
