# Why does AI get small details wrong?

Because small things get few pixels and little of the model's attention. Fingers, lettering, jewelry, buttons, logos and faces in a crowd are drawn from a handful of pixels, so the model guesses. Making the detail larger in the frame, or asking for it directly, usually helps.

Image models are good at the overall scene and weaker at precise, countable or spelled things. OpenAI's image generation guide names text rendering, keeping elements consistent and precise placement as current limits.

Three things help. Make the detail bigger: a close-up of the watch face renders better than a watch on a distant wrist. Ask for it by name in a separate edit instead of in a long prompt. And use a reference image when the detail must match something real.

In ImageQuarry, each fix produces a new version and the earlier ones are kept, so you can ask for one detail at a time and go back if an edit makes things worse.
