# What should I check in an AI image tool's privacy policy?

Check five things: training use, retention, human review, sharing and deletion, for the plan you use, since defaults can differ. Read the policy before you upload anything.

Training: is it on by default, and can you switch it off for images too?

Retention and review: how long are uploads kept, including when history is off, and can human reviewers see them? Google, for example, states both: 72 hours with activity off, and up to three years for reviewed chats.

Visibility and sharing: are images public by default, and which other companies process your content?

Deletion: can you delete single images, projects and the whole account, and what remains afterwards? Read the policy of every tool you upload to.
