# What is Nano Banana?

Nano Banana is Google's name for the native image generation and editing capabilities of its Gemini models, used both to create images and to change them. The current models are Nano Banana 2.1 and Nano Banana Pro.

Google's Gemini documentation covers both current models for generating images from text and for editing images in conversation. Nano Banana Pro is also known as Gemini 3 Pro Image. Earlier models, including the original Nano Banana and Nano Banana 2, are listed as previous generations.

ImageQuarry offers Nano Banana 2.1, its default model, and Nano Banana Pro, both Google image models. You can choose a different model when you want a different result for the same request.
