# Do AI image tools keep my photos?

Most keep them for some time, and the period differs by provider and setting. Some keep content briefly even when history is off. The privacy policy states the retention rules.

Google is an example of how detailed this can be. It says that with Keep Activity off, Gemini chats are kept with your account for 72 hours, and that chats reviewed by people are kept for up to three years.

Many workspace tools keep your images on purpose so you can come back to them. That is useful, but it also means uploads usually stay until you delete them or the tool's retention period ends, so check which applies to each tool you use.

Check how to delete an image, a project and your whole account, and whether deletion also removes copies used for review or safety checks.
