# Can I upload my own photo and edit it with AI?

Yes. Most AI image editors let you upload a photo and describe the change, such as a new background, different light or an added object. The model returns an edited image based on your photo. Upload only photos you have the right to use, and check how the tool you use stores uploads.

The photo becomes the source of the edit: its people, products and layout are the starting point, and your words say what changes. Clear, sharp, well lit photos give better results than small or heavily compressed ones.

Before you upload pictures of other people or client work, read [Is it safe to upload photos to an AI image tool?](https://www.imagequarry.com/faq/is-it-safe-to-upload-photos-to-ai/) and the provider's privacy policy.

In ImageQuarry you can start from an image you upload and describe how to change it. Each change becomes a new version, and the original stays in the project beside it.
