Question

Does AI remember earlier edits in a conversation?

Yes, within the same conversation: multi-turn image tools use earlier turns as context, so you can say "now make it warmer" without repeating the prompt. The memory is imperfect, though. Details can drift, so restate anything that must stay the same.

Google's Gemini API documentation calls multi-turn conversation "the recommended way to iterate on images". OpenAI's prompting guide adds a caution: references such as "same style as before" can carry context, but you should "restate critical constraints if the result drifts".

Whether context carries into a new conversation depends on the tool. If it does not, describe the image again or upload it as a source.

ImageQuarry keeps each version with the prompts, references and conversation that produced it, so the history of an image stays in its project.
