# Test a logo in new colors without redrawing it

Brand refreshes, event versions and partner co-branding all start with the same question: what does our logo look like in these colors? In ImageQuarry you upload the logo image, select it and describe the new palette, for example the mark in deep navy and the wordmark in warm grey. Each request becomes a new version, and the earlier ones are kept, so you can compare a full color study before anyone opens a vector file.

Name each color and where it goes, and keep the shapes and spacing.

## How to recolor a logo with ImageQuarry

1. **Upload a clean logo image** Start from the cleanest version of the logo you have, on a plain background. Busy backgrounds and very small images make color placement harder to read.
2. **Say which part gets which color** Logos often have a symbol, a wordmark and an accent. Name each: the symbol in coral, the text in charcoal, the dot in gold. Ask to keep the shapes, letterforms and spacing, and review the new version for any change to them.
3. **Test it in context** Make versions on light and dark backgrounds, and in a single color. Compare them and download the ones you want to discuss with your designer.

## Logo color requests

Example requests. Each creates a version for review.

- **One-color version**: Every logo needs a version that works in a single color for stamps, embroidery and fax-like printing.
- **Reversed on dark**: Logos often need a light version for dark backgrounds.
- **Seasonal or event palette**: Campaigns sometimes recolor the logo for a season or a cause.
- **Refresh study**: Before a rebrand, compare a few palette directions quickly.
- **Co-branding**: Match your logo to a partner's color for a joint event.
- **Gradient test**: Gradients are popular for apps but need checking at small sizes.

## What a logo color change must respect

- **Contrast and legibility**: A logo has to stay readable at small sizes and on different backgrounds. Check every version against both light and dark grounds.
- **Color systems for print and screen**: Screen colors and print colors are specified differently, and a color you like on screen may need adjusting for print. Your designer will translate the chosen direction into the right color codes.
- **Shapes stay brand assets**: Letter shapes, spacing and the mark itself are part of the identity. When you recolor, ask to keep them, and look closely for any drift.
- **Final artwork lives in vector files**: An image edit is a fast way to choose colors; the final logo should still be produced as proper artwork by whoever maintains the brand files.
- **Color direction from a reference**: Add a reference image to show a palette; references guide the result and you review each version to see how closely it follows them.

## Logo color versions most brands need

| Version | Why | How to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Full color | Primary use | The logo in the brand colors on white |
| Reversed | Dark backgrounds | White logo on a dark background |
| Single color | Stamps, engraving, embroidery | Solid black logo on white |
| Monochrome brand color | Simple applications | The whole logo in the primary brand color |
| Accent variant | Campaigns and seasons | Symbol in the campaign color, wordmark kept |
| Partner version | Co-branded events | Logo in the partner's color from the reference |

## What is an AI logo color change?

It is an edit where you describe new colors for parts of a logo image in words, and an AI image editor makes a new version with them while you name what to keep. ImageQuarry keeps every color study as a version.

_It is not vector editing and it does not produce final brand artwork or color codes. Use it to decide on colors, then update the master files._

## Logo color questions

### Can I recolor my logo by describing the colors?

Yes. Upload the logo image, select it and name the colors for each part. ImageQuarry makes a new version and keeps the original.

### Will the letters and shapes stay the same?

Ask to keep the shapes, letterforms and spacing. A request can say what to keep; check each new version closely for drift.

### Can I make a full set of logo versions?

Make one version for each color treatment and compare them together, then download the ones you need for review.

### Can I use colors from a mood board?

Add the mood board as a reference image. References guide the result; review each version to see how closely it follows them.

### Is the recolored image my final logo file?

Treat it as a color study. The final logo should be produced in your brand's master artwork files.

### How much does ImageQuarry cost?

Plans are paid monthly: Starter at $9 per month with 100 image credits a month, or Pro for more usage.
