# ImageQuarry vs Ideogram: editing with an instruction, side by side

Ideogram is a generative media platform with its own Ideogram models, known for readable type in layouts, plus Precise Edit for focused instructions, an infinite canvas with Magic Fill and Extend, apps such as Background Remover and Material Swap, an API and an iPhone app. Images are public by default unless you pay for Plus or Pro. ImageQuarry is a workspace where each requested change becomes a new version you can compare and branch from. Choose Ideogram for text in images and its canvas tools; choose ImageQuarry for a conversation that keeps every version.

_We make ImageQuarry. We compared it with Ideogram using Ideogram's own public pages, checked October 20, 2026, and say where Ideogram does more._

## At a glance

| | ImageQuarry | Ideogram |
|---|---|---|
| Editing in words | Ask for a change on a selected version; earlier versions stay | Precise Edit: "change an existing image with a focused instruction" |
| Models | Nano Banana 2.1 (default), Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image 2.5 Flare, GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst | Ideogram 3.0 to 4.5 plus models from other labs |
| Canvas tools | Not listed | Infinite canvas with Magic Fill (inpainting) and Extend (outpainting) |
| Default visibility | Not published | Images are published by default; Plus and Pro can keep them unpublished |
| Entry price | Starter at $9 per month with 100 image credits a month | Plus $20 a month billed monthly; weekly credits for eligible free accounts |

## ImageQuarry and Ideogram: the differences that matter

- **Text inside images**: Ideogram says its 4.5 model gives readable type in every layout, and its Studio assembles image and text layers into a layout. That claim is Ideogram's own. ImageQuarry does not make claims about how its models render text.
- **Instruction editing with masks**: Ideogram's Precise Edit takes a focused instruction with optional masks and guiding references, and its canvas adds Magic Fill and Extend. ImageQuarry takes a change in words, including what to keep, and returns a new version without mask tools.
- **Canvas versions or a branch tree**: Ideogram's Studio works through canvas versions to prepare a layout. ImageQuarry keeps every version with the prompt, references and conversation behind it, and lets you branch from any earlier one.
- **Public by default**: Ideogram publishes images to its community by default, and only Plus and Pro subscribers can generate unpublished images. ImageQuarry has not published its Terms yet.
- **Free credits and an API**: Ideogram gives eligible free accounts weekly credits, sells pay as you go credits at 1 cent each, and offers an API and an iPhone app. ImageQuarry plans are paid only.

## About each product

- **ImageQuarry**: ImageQuarry is a conversational AI image workspace. You describe an image or upload one, then ask for specific changes in words, such as new lighting, a different background or an added object. Each change makes a new version and earlier versions are kept, so you can make variations, branch from any version, add reference images and organize the work in projects and a library. You can choose between four image models: Nano Banana 2.1 (the default), Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image 2.5 Flare and GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst. Plans: Starter at $9 per month with 100 image credits a month, and Pro at $29 per month with 300 image credits a month, with optional metered overage that is off unless you turn it on. Every plan is paid. ImageQuarry has not published output specifications or rights terms yet, and it is not a headshot or background removal tool.
- **Ideogram**: Ideogram is a generative media platform with purpose-built creative apps, its own Ideogram models and models from other labs, and an API. Ideogram 4.5 lets you work from an existing image and describe a change, Precise Edit takes focused instructions with optional masks, and the infinite canvas adds Magic Fill and Extend. Apps include Ad Resizer, Background Remover, Colorways, Material Swap and Object Remover. Images are public by default unless you pay for Plus or Pro. Plus is $20 a month and Pro $60 a month on monthly billing, and Ideogram says you are free to use images commercially. These facts come from Wayback captures, because Ideogram blocked our requests.
