# Ideogram vs Krea for generating and editing images

Ideogram is a generative media platform built on its own Ideogram models, which it markets for readable type, with instruction editing, a canvas and task apps such as Ad Resizer. Krea is a creative suite that runs its own Krea models and lists Ideogram 3.0, 4.0 and 4.5 among many outside models, with a live canvas, video and large upscales. Choose Ideogram when type and layout carry the design. Choose Krea when you want to move between many models and media in one plan.

_We make ImageQuarry, which is not one of these two products. We compared Ideogram and Krea using their own public pages, checked October 20, 2026._

## Ideogram and Krea: the differences that matter

- **Own models or a catalog**: Ideogram builds its own models, from Ideogram 3.0 to 4.5, and says the 4.0 weights are available for local use under its license. Krea runs its own Krea 3 and also lists Ideogram 3.0, 4.0 and 4.5 among its outside models, so Ideogram output is reachable inside Krea too.
- **Text inside images**: Ideogram says its 4.5 model gives readable type in every layout, a vendor claim, and its Studio assembles image and text layers into a layout. The Krea pages read here make no typography claim and offer Ideogram models among others.
- **Publishing defaults**: Ideogram's pricing page, as captured on October 16, 2026, says all images are published to the community by default, and Plus and Pro subscribers can generate unpublished images. Krea's Business plan adds no-training clauses for your content.
- **Starting without a subscription**: Ideogram says it offers no free trials for subscriptions, while eligible free accounts get weekly credits that vary. Krea's Free plan lists 100 units a day.
- **Apps for specific jobs**: Ideogram offers apps such as Ad Resizer, Background Remover, Colorways, Material Swap and Object Remover. Krea's own tools lean toward canvases, a node editor and an App Builder for making your own flows.
