# Krea alternatives for phone apps, lasting credits and simpler editing

Krea is a web creative AI suite for generating, editing and upscaling images and video, with its own Krea models next to third party models such as Ideogram and Nano Banana, plus an agent, a node editor and a real-time canvas. Two reasons to look elsewhere come straight from its own pages: no iOS or Android app is listed, and monthly compute units do not roll over. Leonardo.Ai and Adobe Firefly suit people who want phone apps, while Ideogram and NightCafe suit people who want purchased credits to last longer. ImageQuarry suits people who want a smaller tool where each change asked for in words becomes a kept version.

_We make ImageQuarry, one of the alternatives below. Krea and each alternative were compared on platforms, how long usage lasts, usage terms, model choice, editing in words and price, using each vendor's public pages, checked October 20, 2026._

## Krea alternatives at a glance

| Tool | Best for | Price from | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Leonardo.Ai | Krea users who want a similar spread of models but also need to work from a phone | Free plan with 150 fast tokens a day; Essential $12 a month billed monthly | Many models like Krea, plus iOS and Android apps and an API |
| Adobe Firefly | Work that moves between desktop and phone and needs a plain commercial statement from the vendor | Free daily generations; Firefly Standard US$9.99 a month | iOS and Android apps, Prompt to Edit, and Adobe's commercial safety statement |
| Ideogram | Posters and graphics with readable type, bought with top-up credits that carry over | Plus $20 a month billed monthly, or $15 a month billed annually | Top-up credits carry over, and the footer links an iPhone app |
| NightCafe | Hobbyists who buy small amounts of credit and want leftovers to carry forward | AI Beginner $7.49 a month (100 Fast Credits) | Unused Fast Credits roll over and never expire, from $7.49 a month |
| ImageQuarry | People who want one focused loop of describing a change and keeping each result | Starter at $9 or Pro at $29, billed each month | One editing conversation where versions and branches stay together |

## What is Krea?

Krea calls itself a creative AI suite to "Generate, edit, and enhance images and videos". Its in-house image model is Krea 3, offered next to third party models including Flux 2, GPT Image 2.5, Ideogram 4.5, Nano Banana Pro and Seedream 4. Beyond prompts, you can edit by typing, brief the Krea Agent to plan and iterate across models, draw on a real-time canvas, connect steps in the Node Editor, and train LoRAs from up to 50 images. It also generates video with models such as Kling, Veo and Runway.

_Krea is a multi-model suite, not one model: what an image looks like depends on which of its many models you pick, or which one the Agent picks for you._

## Krea pricing

Prices are from the page's structured data for monthly billing. With yearly billing Krea advertises "Save 40% with annual". The Max card's default view shows 60,000 units at $63 with $105 struck through, which does not match the structured data (40,000 units at $70), so check the card before buying Max. Paid plans also include relaxed generations with supported in-house image models. Prices as of October 2026, from krea.ai. Check the vendor for current pricing.

- Krea Free: $0 per month (100 units a day, all image and video models, limited LoRA training, no credit card required)
- Krea Basic: $9 per month, billed monthly (5,000 compute units a month; $5.25 a month on yearly billing)
- Krea Pro: $35 per month, billed monthly (20,000 compute units a month; $21 a month on yearly billing)
- Krea Max: $70 per month, billed monthly (40,000 compute units a month; $63 a month on yearly billing per the compare table)
- Krea Business: $200 per month, billed monthly (80,000 compute units a month and up to 50 members; the card shows $160 on yearly billing)

Prices as of 2026-10.

## What Krea does well

- **Dozens of image models under one login**: Krea's pricing page lists its own Krea 1, Krea 2 and Krea 3 models beside Flux 3 Image, Flux Kontext, GPT Image 2.5, Ideogram 4.5, Nano Banana 2, Recraft V4, Seedream 4 and others, so one account reaches many model families.
- **Real-time canvas and node workflows**: Krea renders as you draw on a live canvas, and even the free plan can "Generate images in real-time as you type or draw." The Node Editor connects models, prompts and processing steps visually, and an App Builder sits alongside it.
- **Reaches into other software**: Krea has a public API for generating images and video and enhancing media, plugins for creative software such as After Effects, and a Krea presence inside Claude and ChatGPT.
- **Large upscales on paid plans**: Free accounts upscale to 2K with basic models, and paid plans add upscalers including Topaz Standard that support outputs up to 22K.
- **Broad commercial wording on paid plans**: Krea's pricing page says you can "Use all generated content for commercial purposes including marketing, products, and client work", and the Business plan adds no-training clauses and indemnification.

## Where Krea falls short

- **Monthly units reset**: Krea states that Basic, Pro and Max units are allocated monthly and "do not roll over", and one-time compute packs "expire after 90 days".
- **No phone app listed**: The platform pages show a web app, an API, plugins and Krea in Claude and ChatGPT, but no iOS or Android app was found on them as of October 2026.
- **Free plan left out of the license answer**: The pricing FAQ says the paid plans (Basic, Pro, Max, Business, Enterprise) include a commercial license and does not name the Free plan.
- **Conflicting Max plan figures**: The Max card shows 60,000 units at $63 with $105 struck through, while the page's structured data gives Max as 40,000 units at $70 a month.

## Why people look for a Krea alternative

- You want to create and edit from your phone, and Krea's pages show a web app, plugins and an API but no iOS or Android app.
- You buy usage in bursts and want it to keep: Basic, Pro and Max units do not roll over, and compute packs expire after 90 days.
- You need commercial terms that clearly cover the plan you are on, and Krea's FAQ names only paid plans as including a commercial license.
- You want a narrower tool than a suite with an agent, a node editor, an app builder, LoRA training and dozens of image and video models.

## The 5 Krea alternatives

### 1. Leonardo.Ai

Best for: Krea users who want a similar spread of models but also need to work from a phone
How it differs: Leonardo.Ai also runs models from several labs, among them FLUX.2 Pro, Ideogram 4.5, Nano Banana Pro and even Krea 2 Turbo, beside its own Lucid and Phoenix models. Unlike Krea it lists an iOS app and an Android app, and its pay as you go API credit does not expire.
Price: Free plan with 150 fast tokens a day; Essential $12 a month billed monthly (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: Free plan images are public, and Leonardo.Ai's pricing page says it holds rights to use, reproduce and distribute them.

### 2. Adobe Firefly

Best for: Work that moves between desktop and phone and needs a plain commercial statement from the vendor
How it differs: Firefly runs on the web and in iOS and Android apps, and some plans bundle Photoshop and Adobe Express. Adobe says outputs from its own Firefly models are safe for commercial use, where Krea's FAQ ties the license to paid plans. Its Prompt to Edit adds, removes or replaces objects and backgrounds from a typed description.
Price: Free daily generations; Firefly Standard US$9.99 a month (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: The commercial safety statement does not extend to partner models, and the free plan does not state how many generations it allows.

### 3. Ideogram

Best for: Posters and graphics with readable type, bought with top-up credits that carry over
How it differs: Ideogram's pricing page says top-up credits carry over, whereas Krea's compute packs expire after 90 days. Its own Ideogram models lead the catalog, and Precise Edit changes an image from one focused instruction with optional masks and guiding references. The site footer links to an iPhone app.
Price: Plus $20 a month billed monthly, or $15 a month billed annually (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: Subscription priority credits still expire each cycle, and editing with AI does not run in the slow queue.

### 4. NightCafe

Best for: Hobbyists who buy small amounts of credit and want leftovers to carry forward
How it differs: NightCafe's pricing page says unused Fast Credits roll over month to month and do not expire, which answers Krea's monthly reset head on. It lists 50+ PRO image models such as Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image and Seedream, supports editing with prompts, and syncs creations across its web and mobile generators.
Price: AI Beginner $7.49 a month (100 Fast Credits) (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: It is built around a public feed, chat rooms and daily challenges, and its pages do not say whether creations are public by default.

### 5. ImageQuarry

Best for: People who want one focused loop of describing a change and keeping each result
How it differs: Krea hands you an agent, nodes, a live canvas and dozens of models. ImageQuarry keeps to one path: describe the image, ask for changes in words, and each change lands as a new version next to the prompt and references that produced it. You can branch from an earlier version and pick from four models, with Nano Banana 2.1 as the default.
Price: Starter at $9 or Pro at $29, billed each month (as of 2026-10)
Limitation: Every plan is paid, it makes still images only, and ImageQuarry has not published output specifications or a rights policy yet.

## Who should stay with Krea

- You compare model families all the time, and Krea puts Krea 3 next to Flux, Ideogram, Nano Banana, GPT Image and many others in one account.
- You direct images by sketching, and the real-time canvas that renders as you draw is central to how you work.
- You build repeatable workflows in the Node Editor or call Krea's public API from your own tools.
- You upscale a lot, since paid plans include upscalers such as Topaz Standard with outputs up to 22K.

## How to try an alternative alongside Krea

1. Open the Assets area in Krea's app and download the images you still plan to work on.
2. Write down which Krea model made each favorite, because some alternatives run related families, such as Nano Banana or Ideogram, under their own version names.
3. Spend your remaining monthly units before changing plans, since Krea says they do not roll over.
4. Rebuild one Node Editor workflow by hand in the new tool to learn what it needs, instead of moving everything at once.
5. Keep Krea's no-cost plan for real-time sketching while the new tool takes the rest of the work.

Does not carry over: LoRAs trained in Krea, Node Apps, Moodboards and App Builder apps are Krea features, so plan to rebuild them in whatever tool you move to.

## Krea alternatives: questions

### Is there a free alternative to Krea?

Yes, several, as of October 2026. Leonardo.Ai's free plan gives 150 fast tokens a day, Adobe Firefly offers free daily generations, NightCafe gives 5 credits each day you log in, and Ideogram gives eligible free accounts weekly credits. Krea's own free plan is 100 units a day. ImageQuarry is paid on both of its plans.

### What is a cheaper alternative to Krea?

NightCafe's AI Beginner tier is $7.49 a month, which undercuts Krea Basic (see the price table above), and Adobe Firefly Standard costs just under $10 a month. Leonardo.Ai Essential is $12 a month. Each counts usage in its own units, so compare what a plan makes for your kind of work, not the unit numbers.

### Which Krea alternative has a mobile app?

Leonardo.Ai lists iOS and Android apps, Adobe Firefly has iOS and Android apps plus a mobile web app, NightCafe has web and mobile generators that sync, and Ideogram's footer links an iPhone app. No iOS or Android app was found on Krea's pages.

### Do Krea credits roll over, and which alternative keeps unused credits?

Krea's monthly units do not roll over and its compute packs expire after 90 days. NightCafe says unused Fast Credits roll over and do not expire, Ideogram says top-up credits carry over while subscription credits expire each cycle, and Leonardo.Ai says its API credit does not expire.

### Which alternative has an API like Krea's?

Leonardo.Ai sells a pay as you go API that is separate from its web plans, and Ideogram offers API access with pay as you go credits at 1 cent each. Krea's own public API generates images and video and enhances media.

### How does ImageQuarry compare with Krea?

Krea is a broad suite with an agent, a node editor, a live canvas and many image and video models. ImageQuarry is a narrower workspace for still images: you describe an image, ask for changes in words, and each change becomes a new version you can return to or branch from. It has two plans, Starter at $9 a month and Pro at $29 a month.
