Picture a new driveway in front of your house

A driveway takes up much of the front of many houses, so its surface, shape and edges shape the first impression more than people expect. Gravel, block paving, concrete and resin all look different against the same house, and planting at the edges can soften a large hard surface. In ImageQuarry you upload a photo of the front of your house and ask for driveway changes in words, keeping each version so you can compare surfaces before talking to installers.

Concepts for look and layout. Drainage, levels and any permissions are confirmed with installers.

How to explore driveway ideas with ImageQuarry

  1. 01

    Photograph from the street

Take the photo from across the road or the end of the drive, so the house, the drive and the boundary are all visible.

  2. 02

    Change the surface

Ask for gravel, block paving, resin or concrete as separate versions.

  3. 03

    Edge it

Ask for edging and borders: brick, steel, low planting or a strip of lawn.

  4. 04

    Light and finish

Ask for lighting along the drive and a version at dusk, and compare.

Driveway requests to start from

Gravel with brick edging

Gravel is affordable and lets rain soak away.

Block paving

Paving gives a formal, tidy look.

Planted edges

Planting softens a large paved area.

Wheel strips

Two strips with grass or gravel between reduce paving.

Entrance gates

Gates and piers change how a front feels.

Driveway lighting

Low lights mark the edges at night.

What to consider for a driveway

Front gardens and wildlife

Paving over a whole front garden removes space for plants, insects and birds. Keeping even a narrow bed, a tree or a strip of planting between the drive and the boundary makes a visible difference. Ask for a version that keeps a planted bed beside the drive and compare it with a fully paved one.

Edges stop gravel wandering

Gravel drives need a firm edge so stones do not spread onto lawns and paths. Brick, steel or timber edging also frames the surface and gives a finished look.

Where does the rain go

Large hard surfaces send water to the street. Permeable options such as gravel or permeable paving help, and some areas have rules about it.

Match the house

Paving colors that relate to the brick or stone of the house look settled. Clashing colors stand out across a large area.

Soften the edges

Planting, a strip of lawn or a tree breaks up a large driveway and improves the view from the house.

Practical turning space

A design that looks good still has to let cars park and turn. A concept shows look, not dimensions.

Upload and describe

Start from a photo you upload and describe the new driveway; each change is a new version and the original stays.

Keep the house as it is

Say in the request that the house, garage and front door stay, then review the new version to see how closely it did.

What is AI driveway design?

AI driveway design is using an image model to picture a driveway with a different surface, edging, planting and lighting, from a photo of the front of the house or a description, by asking for changes in plain words. ImageQuarry keeps every idea as a version.

It is not an installation plan. Drainage, sub-base, levels and any permissions are confirmed by an installer.

Driveway questions

Can I see a new driveway on a photo of my house?

Yes. Upload the photo and describe the driveway you want. ImageQuarry creates a new version and keeps the original.

Can I compare gravel and paving?

Make one version for each surface from the same photo and compare them side by side.

Will it tell me if I need permission?

No. Rules on drainage and front gardens vary. Check with your local authority or installer.

Can I keep the existing walls?

Name them in the request as things to keep, and review the new version to see how closely they were kept.

Can I use a neighbor's driveway as a reference?

Attach a photo of a driveway you like as a reference. References guide the result; compare each version with the reference.

Can I build on one idea?

Yes. Each request builds on the version you selected: surface first, then edging, then lighting.

Create an image. Edit it with words. Keep refining.

Choose the surface before the diggers arrive

Upload a photo of the front of your house, try each surface and edge as a version, and compare them.
