# AI banner ad images for every slot shape, from strip to tower

A banner is a fixed box on someone else's page, and the box can be a thin 728 by 90 leaderboard or a narrow 160 by 600 skyscraper, so one picture rarely fits every slot. Google Ads lists twenty standard sizes for uploaded image ads and caps each file at 150 KB. ImageQuarry lets you describe the background art or upload a product shot, then ask in words for a wider scene, a subject pushed to the left, or space for a button. Each layout request becomes a new version, which makes it practical to work out a strip, a square and a tower from one idea.

ImageQuarry makes the artwork, not the finished banner: add the logo, words and button in your design tool, export to each slot size, and check the file weight against the network's limit.

## How a banner image comes together

1. **Start with the background art** Describe a scene that still works when most of it is cut away: a long tabletop, a horizon, a single object on a wide plain color. Or upload a product photo and ask for a backdrop that extends well past it on both sides.
2. **Shape it for each slot in words** Ask for a wide version with the product at the far left, then a tall version with the product near the top. Say what stays, such as the bottle and its shadow, and check each new version for crowding.
3. **Export to the exact sizes** Choose the versions that hold up, download them, and do the final cut in a design tool at each pixel size the network accepts. Add copy and a button there, then compress to the file limit.

## Banner requests by slot shape

Requests a person could type when preparing artwork for standard banner slots. They describe what to make, not what was made.

- **Leaderboard strip**: In a 728 by 90 or 970 by 90 slot the image is mostly width. The subject has to sit at one end so the copy can run along the rest.
- **Medium rectangle**: The 300 by 250 rectangle is close to square and often sits inside article text, so it has to be readable at a small size.
- **Skyscraper tower**: A 160 by 600 or 300 by 600 slot is tall and thin; a product that stands upright, or a stack of items, fills it naturally.
- **Mobile banner**: On a phone, 320 by 50 and 300 by 50 strips are tiny, so a single bold object on flat color is about all that reads.
- **A wide billboard slot**: The 970 by 250 size gives a little height to work with, enough for a scene and a headline side by side.

## Rules of the banner slot

- **Twenty standard sizes**: Google Ads lists twenty sizes for uploaded image ads, including 300 by 250, 336 by 280, 728 by 90, 970 by 90, 970 by 250, 160 by 600, 300 by 600, 320 by 50 and 320 by 100, plus a few that run only in certain countries.
- **A strict file weight**: Google Ads sets a 150 KB maximum per uploaded image ad, in GIF, JPG or PNG. A detailed photographic background can push a file over that, so simple areas of flat color help.
- **Animation has limits too**: For animated GIF banners, Google Ads allows up to 30 seconds of animation, which may loop but must stop after 30 seconds, at fewer than 5 frames per second.
- **Desktop and phone slots differ**: Google's guide to common ad sizes names 300 by 250, 336 by 280, 728 by 90 and 300 by 600 among the common sizes on computers, and 300 by 50 and 320 by 100 style strips among those on high end phones.
- **Wide and tall from one idea**: Ask for a changed composition in words and each layout becomes its own version, so the wide strip and the tall tower can both start from the scene you chose.

## What an AI banner ad image is

An AI banner ad image is the picture or background art inside a fixed size web banner, made from a written description or by changing an uploaded photo. With ImageQuarry you shape that art through change requests, keep each layout as a version, and finish the banner with copy and a button elsewhere.

_It is not a banner ad builder that exports every size at once or adds clickable buttons; those steps happen in a design tool or ad platform after download._

## Banner ad image questions

### Which banner sizes should I make first?

Google's common sizes guide puts 300 by 250, 728 by 90 and 300 by 600 among the usual desktop slots, and 320 by 50 style strips on phones. One wide, one square and one tall layout cover most of the list after cropping.

### Can one image work across all banner sizes?

Rarely without changes. A strip and a tower need the subject in different places, so ask for a wide composition and a tall one from the same chosen scene and crop each to its exact size.

### How do I stay under the 150 KB limit?

Google Ads caps uploaded image ads at 150 KB. Plain backgrounds, fewer fine textures and an efficient export setting in your design tool keep the weight down.

### Should the words be part of the generated image?

Keep them separate. Ask for clear space where the headline and button go, then set the type in your design tool so it stays crisp at small sizes like 320 by 50.

### Does ImageQuarry export at banner pixel sizes?

No, it publishes no output sizes or file types. Download the version you chose and resize it to each slot in your own tools.

### How is ImageQuarry paid for?

By monthly subscription only: Starter at $9 per month with 100 image credits a month, or Pro at $29 per month with 300 image credits a month.
